Ash from Power Pellets

Feeling the Heat
yes that is a lot of ash,,,,,lol Deb and I looked at the CAB50 and eventually settled on the PS50....Same stove,just a smaller hopper and a little different outer shell......Might I suggest creating a "signature" that goes at the bottom of your posts where you can put your make and model of stove.....Some also put pellets they have on hand,toys-er,uh tools for working outside,etc.....Also you can add a location{as general as you want} to the thing on the left that tells us when you joined....That way we know your area and might be able to recommend pellets,parts suppliers,etc. if you need help////// And we like pics

Burning Hunk
My first year burning I bought pellets from the local agway. Had to empty the ash bin in my insert 1-2 times per day or it would choke out the fire. Worst part is, I thought they were all going to be like that and I had made a terrible mistake buying this thing. It's amazing the difference in ash from brand to brand. Thanks for the heads up on the Power Pellets.

Geez and here we though all them there pellets were all the same! Just kidding really! But we sometimes here that from places that sell em. Heat can be compensated with the heat level/feed control(more below). But ash is something we have little control over(besides swapping out the pellets themselves and making sure the stove is working properly). Lower ash pellets allow for longer, cleaner burns as you have learned.
Heat is something to keep an eye on, Lower heat producers may last longer, But hurt the stoves performance when you need the most heat during cold spells. You can only turn them up so far. A pellet that has a higher heat output can be the ticket in the cold as you can let the stove cruise along on a lower setting and still have some adjustment if it gets a little colder yet!
Just my 2 cents on some of the pellet variables and Thanks for posting your experience. Good info for the people just jumping in this for the first time.

I wonder how many people buy a pellet stove, don't read this forum, and judge the stove on the Inferno pellets or some other awful brand? My dealer recommended NEWP pellets, and I was cleaning out the stove every 2 days. I remember thinking what a PIA. There are a lot of good pellets out there, and they can make you like your stove a whole lot more!
I wish I can find a good brand in the Southern MD area. So far it's looking like Lignetics written in green.
