I had some blowdown I cleaned up in the same area the Maple was in, the Maple grew around the Cherry.

That's pretty cool.
Make a neat stool out that round

Zap I thought maybe this post was going to introduce me to a new variety of wood I hadn't heard of yet, Maplecherry! :)

so does that double the BTU rating

2 Questions????

If zap had to drop the maple as well, would he split the " joined " pieces horizontal like normal people? :D

How would zap make a laser level stack with that piece? :D

Amazing grain figures there. That would make some excellent turning/carving wood.

Ship 2 or 3 of those small rounds to me and I'll send you back a nice completed turned piece when dried. Just too nice to burn...

What can you make from that, it's about 14.75 inches long.

Zap, buddy, I need a favor. Put something besides food in your avatar. Every time I see it I have this urge to go to the fridge. ;em A C

I'm always amazed at how a tree will grow like that.

Nature is an amazing thing to watch for sure. I'm real interested to see what someone with real talent/vision can make out of something like that. A C

Maplecherry . . . cherrymaple . . . you're all wrong . . . it's "cherple" . . . burns like sugar maple, when tapped in the spring the syrup tastes like a cherry infused syrup and splits and smells like cherry. Get all the "cherple" you can find!

I only knew about "cherple" because up this way I've cut some "mash" and "bash" before . . . ;)

On Saturday when I grabbed the Red Maple (in the same area) I noticed the Maple had let go of the Cherry.

guessing the maple wanted to remain standing and not end up turned into a bowl
