Ran through the first 20 bags of Green Supreme and everything was great. Few days ago the glass started to get black and pellets started mounding in the middle of the pot and clinkers around the inside of the burn pot started shutting down the air flow after 1/2 bag. Cleaned the stove, changed settings from 2-5-1 to 1-4-1. Same thing. Cleaned again, changed settings to 1-6-1. Same thing. When the fire starts out it roars like a blast furnace for a few hours then, black glass and clinkers and lazy flame. I've tried running top buttons at 2-3, 5-5, 7-9. No change. This just started a week or so ago. Any thoughts? Thanks.

clean your venting.

Eric

Sounds like a dirty stove/venting issue. Also, try different pellets.

Cleaned out the vent pipe with lint brush and vac. Took off the back and vacuumed the screen on the convection blower (it was pretty bad), vacuumed all around the exhaust blower but can't figure out where the air enters the blower to be expelled out the exhaust. Just through in some Turmans to see if the pellets might be the problem, but the GS were burning great till a few days ago - same pallet. Thanks

......vacuumed all around the exhaust blower but can't figure out where the air enters the blower to be expelled out the exhaust......

ALL of the air that eventually goes out the exhaust comes in through the rear air inlet.....do you have an OAK attached?

If the screen is clear, it sure sounds like a dirty stove....when you cleaned the stove, did you remove the ash trap covers and vacuum all around back there? Has the comb. blower ever been removed & cleaned?

Yep OAK screen..... Or the Green Supremes :( (not a good pellet)

Or a pulled exhaust path? Have you cleaned behind the firebrick?

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. After the cleaning, ran the Turmans and they were great. Switched to the GS and they were wonderful. Ran so well, I ran it a while today till everyone asked me to turn the damn thing off as the house was 77 degrees. Think I've got it thanks to your help.

Soooo...was it the OAK screen?

I am a firm believer in cleaning. Who knew that after only 6 tons I'd need to take of the back, clean the motors and clean out the exaust stack, not just vacuum the burn pot. That all took almost an hour. If I can figure out what a vacuum switch is I'lltry the leaf blower in the Spring. Thanks again all.

6 tons and only vacuuming the firebox area.... Outstanding, Magnificent, Spectacular, Stupendous, Phenomenal, and any other word10 letters or over to describe Awesomeness (over 10) :)

Granted imacman didn't even open the door for 59 bags. To go 300 bags and not clean anything but the firebox??? Thats Ridiculous (another at 10 letters :))

Congrats. But now you know why it was burnin like Chit

"After the cleaning........"

Nuff said.

Thanks...I read right by that and didn't see it!

Well there is a pretty extensive section in the booklet regarding cleaning, but I usually only read instructions after all else fails. Just a few lessons I learned that may be helpful to others: there is a little cover at the bottom of the T shaped pipe outside that comes off and ash is in it: air flow from the front of the stove is greatly enhanced after vacuuming the crud off the screen of the convection blower: The ash tray can be removed by slightly lifting up and sliding forward (there's ash in that also, I emptied it): and lastly "a clean stove" doesn't just mean vacuum the burn pot. Thanks again all and I hope everyone had a tremendous Thanksgiving and that my observations may help others. :) Incidentally, the Patriots went wild last night.

I do like a good joke.

We preach and preach and preach some more about cleaning, show them the leaf blower and everything, tell them about ash in the system and ash traps and clean out ports and air compressors.

What do they do, sit in front of the TV watching a football game while grossing about how bad their stove is burning.

Eric, you know the old saying, "you can lead a horse to the vacuum cleaner-pipe brush-tools to remove combustion blower, but you can't make them clean the stove properly"......right?

Or spend 30-45 minutes on this site using the search engine to see the last 5-6 guys asking the EXACT same questions in the past 21 days.

Eric

Or gets a little testy answering the same question 5-6 times in a week or two.
