EcoBoiler Pellet Boiler ...thoughts?

HI everone :)
I have been poking around this site looking for insite on what boiler I should purchase. Has anyone any experiance with the EcoBoiler Pellet Boiler? I like to tinker so cleaning wont be a problem so I'm kinda thinking any money saved on a self cleaning unit I will spend on pellet storage. I'm leaning away from an out door unit also... but will go that route if necessary. I have read about the "central boiler" and it seems to be too problematic. I not in a big hurry as this will be used next heating season. My question is in the $7000.00 price range .can I get more stove for my $$

This is my first season with a Harman PB 105 boiler. I like it very much so far. It was in the $6700 range with discounts when I bought it last summer. Its heating capacity is about 110,000 BTU, I believe.

direct vent solves alot of problems as well as the expence of a chimney. man my head is spinning!!! also its self cleaning too...I think?!? I have 6 or 8 months to figure out what boiler to go with. I have spent hours reading forums and I want to get the best boiler short of going crazy by throwing $$$ at it. I'm confortable with 6 or 8 K$$...direct vent also excites me too. Anyone else?

can I ask...why are you jumping ship? I have read of problems with the igniter and fire pot...are those buggs worked out? I'm real handy and cleaning and servicing will kinda be a labor of love. I have burned wood for years and have all the tools(splitter ect) but the thought of being able to burn pellets seems easy. I guess now direct vent excites me the most. an outside boiler is NOT the way I want to go.
 
happy turkey day everyone!!! I'm going to buy the pb 105 with bulk storage 2marrow. I went to see it yesterday and it looks great! It has been up and running for 4 or 5 seasons. I discussed some of the issues from here (bubble over the igniter...ect) and his answer was "you can't believe everything you read on the internet". Its my guess the problem has been resolved and I will be recieving the "latest and greatest" I was gonna wait till next year and have chainged my mind based on...... my observations (saw the unit) , fuel prices(close to $4.00/gallon),and the fact that Mr Greybeard said it was a direct vent unit. The only part I'm not 100% confortable with is the bulk storage. My deal is a package deal and I'm realizing quite a savings ...but do I rilly need it?
Anyway based on the fact that Harmond has been around for a while...its USA made...and I have "black friday...BUY>>>BUY " working me over, I'm pulling the trigger.
I expect to have it up and running before December and plan to share with all who are interested. I am a craftsman , so it will be a clean install. My next endevor will be with a pellet mill:eek:. Its my understanding that the harmond is not as fussy as others and the thought of making pellets from my grass clippings gives me a "woody":p ...anyway ...thats next year. anyone interested in a 28 ton splitter?:confused:

I'm not sure that the burnpot bubble issue has been resolved, only time is going to tell, but I can say that I think with this new style burnpot Harman is really trying to find the resolution, in fact, maybe this burnpot is the answer.

I also have a PB105 boiler and I love it and have had it for 4 winters now. Other than the burnpot issue I have had little problems with the unit. I do have faith that Harman will come up with a resolution for the burnpot bubble and Wil has been keeping us advised on the progress (thanks Wil!). I save approx 1200 a year over oil with pellets. (Oil at $4.00/gal and pellets at $248/ton. Winter house temp setting with oil was 65*, now with pellets, average setting house temp is 72*. My wife loves the PB105 too and as in her words, "I'm not freezing anymore!". Don't put too much stock in what the dealer says though. My dealer has never admitted that there is a burn pot issue but keeps giving me a free one under warranty every year. Of course we all know that salesmen always give the full story! Six to seven thousand dollars is a big sale for them. As far as the other boilers, I can't comment on on them but with cast iron construction I don't see me ever needing to buy another.

Good luck, Iceguy. I know some people use storage with these units, but I'm very comfortable running it without. The fire is well-controlled and the unit manages temperature very well.

My research suggested that Harman has been tweaking the design of the boiler incrementally over time, so I made a point of getting the latest design possible. That said, I've already spotted a little warpage in the burnpot. Part of the cost of doing business, I guess.

How old is your boiler,,,grey?
 
I bought the stove today. I elected not to get the bulk storage as of yet but that is another story...My question is at full tilt, how long will I be able to go between hopper fill ups? My dealer is including 1 ton of premium pellets($150) and he says any of the pellets that come from Massena, NY are good pellets. That said, the Latham home depot has that pellet for $209. should I stock (oink oink) up (oink oink) or will there be pellets available later in the season? (crystal balls working??)
 
Simple math, 8k btus to a pound of pellets, 40 pounds to a bag= about three hours burn time per bag.320,000btus. WOOF.

Pellet dealers will have em all season. Box stores roll them out in early spring. Usually in Mid March early April. Replaced by lawn furniture!

$150 for Currans in pretty cheap. If the box store has North American' That's the same pellet the dealer has in a box store bag.
