Grand Blanc, Mi
I do not have the experience to take these trees down so close to my buildings.
I didn't get any estimates, yet I thought some one on here, my have a good idea how much it would cost, individually, or all trees together, of course I keep the wood.
All I need is trees brought down, I do the rest.

The first two are 20- 25 feet from house dead oak, In the second pic the tree ,far left is not included DSCI0406.jpgDSCI0405.jpg

These pics below are all same trees

Well over $1,000 is my guess.

Wait until they get desperate for business and you'll get it for more than half cost. I had a quote for $1,500 to bring one down from three guys I called. I waited and had a guy stop in one day looking for business and got it done for $300 cash. They were bonded licensed and insured. Climbed it, limbed it, and then let it fall.

I paid $150 each for four trees, two years ago, at my cabin. They felled them and left them where they fell. Licensed and insured arborists.

For sure you'll get some great firewood when it is done.

For sure, and U see the ash trees have been dead 3 years.

I thought maybe I could bring down the oak trees into the woods, but I think they would get hung up on other trees, then I would have to call a pro to deal with a widow maker

Ask them if they have 1/2 day rates and full day rates. You may get them down in price a bit.

Recently I have paid between $100 to $150 per tree. The licensed insured arborists cut all limbs and logs to the length of my choice as they brought the tree down. I did my own splitting and clean up. Not too bad for trees close to the house and the peace of mind.

$75 to $150 a tree around here no clean up

See the old fence wire on the Ash trees can be hell on chains and other problems.

waiting on scotty to chime in here, he does this stuff on the side so he will have a fair price and be prolly one of the better ones you will get unless you find someone who wants the work.

You could always put an add on clist, wanted someone to cut down trees buck and help split for part of the wood, must be bonded licensed and insured.

I realize the part with the fence in it, may be unusable, or maybe deal with it , with a sawzall , once the rest is down

I was thinking I might put an add on CL.
OK Scotty , where are you ;?

Here I am. Its hard to tell from pictures, bit I'd probably price it around 300 bucks a tree that size. Of course, you understand that I'd be taking some of that wood......;) The big factor at your job would be the adjacent building. When I gotta climb, the price goes up. But the straight drops, I'd give you a good deal on them. Especially if you clean up the branches ! ;) let us know what you find out....

I imagine the area you live will effect the price. I got a good deal for this area, paid the guy $1000 for the day (well 9-3 with a lunch break) and I worked with him and his laborer all day. He had a big chipper which we used to clean up all the branches (chipped up more than I would have working alone but I wanted a lot done and this was the fastest way). We took down an approx 80 foot red oak that was 80% over the house, a decent sized maple that was real close to the house, then cleaned up about 8 other oaks in the yard taking off lower branches and cleaning up damage from last falls freak snow storm. I had gotten 3 prior estimates for the one oak alone that were all over $900 so I felt this was a good deal. Those red oak rounds were over 3' diameter at the base and were some heavy - even rolling them was an effort. Made some pretty fire wood too that will be used about the 2016-17 heating season.

I took down the little one today, 11 in, at base
I am burning it now, yes it is dry
I think with rope tension ,I can take down the two leaning away from pole barn.
How do you determine the height of a tree ????

Hold your arm up at a 45 degree angle. Site down your arm and position yourself so that your arm points at the top of tree. Measure the distance from where you were standing to the trunk of the tree. Add your shoulder height to the measurement to get the height. This assumes the tree is reasonably straight and not a leaner.

On a sunny day measure the shadow of anything , lets say an 8' pole, then measure the shadow of the tree and do the math. Or climb up the tree with a tape measure and drop one end down to someone on the ground.

The price will vary regionally, that's about the only thing you can count on!! Also, there is generally no difference in price whether they leave the wood or take it. Consider that that close to a building you're going to have to pay licensed, insured guys to do the work....not illegals. Also, you're going to have a crane at least, maybe a bucket truck on site, and these vehicles cost money to mobilize.

Best way to get a good price is to get a price from a guy or three. Don't know jack about your area, but generally when they're in the busy season they'll bid a little high/not give you a break. Once they slow down, you may or may not get a call and they'll offer you a discount to keep their employees busy. Take the discount, it's about as good a price as you're going to get. Keep in mind what equipment and talent is involved, and nobody works for free/everyone has to put food on the table. Not an easy thing to take down a big tree that close to a house.

You could find a few million guys between where you are located and I am that would be willing to fell trees in the middle of a field for a 12 pack of beer or less.

Had one tree dropped this spring.

Out of the 6 or 7 tree guys I tried calling from Yellow Pages, only had 3 either answer the phone/call back

Only ONE actually showed up to give me a price. Looked at the tree and said he could drop it right then.

Then asks me if I have a saw, he didn't have one with him. <>

I rented him a saw for $50 but he didn't want chaps, gloves, hearing or eye pro "I've been doing this for 30 years".

Probably should have been clued in at this point...

He dropped the damn tree right over my dog run... the one he said would be WAY out of the way. Was more worried about knocking over a wood pile I had than my shed or the dog run.

In the end, the $600 quote he gave me went down to $250.

Just be thankful you didn't end up owning the Brooklyn Bridge too! :)

Use angieslist and bring in three or four to give quotes. The first time I had taken down in the back of my house had a range of greater than 5k

Put an add on CL, two guys called and gave the same, ball park estimate , based on the pics of $350 for all 6 trees.
They are experienced bonded and insured

Got Three guys lined up to give an ,on site estimate, looks like it's going to be about 60 bucks a tree, we will see :)
