Hi there,

Been lurking from the other side of the pond for a while enjoying the banter and especially the wood store forum and all the 'scores'. Been renovating our property and finally decided to stick in a Charnwood C4 wood burner 4.9kw (cast iron, British made). We get free wood from my old place of work so it was an easy decision to make. The central heating has yet to come on and this is pumping out some great heat.

Anyway, thought I'd stick up a snap of it, as I'm quite proud and look forward to continuing reading the forums. Thanks for all advice I've received so far from lurking!

The log store has grown somewhat since the below pic was taekn!

Wlcome to the Forum Suisidevw !

That is a cool looking stove you have there. Is this the right stove pic ? I apologize it was hard to see the details. Was that an old fireplace where the stove is set back in the wall ?

Hi Pallet Pete,

Yes, that's the correct one with the log store underneath. I went for the one iwthout the store. Straight from the Charnwood website? :)

Yes, all 1930's red brick houses in the UK have the fireplaces with alcoves either side, the front room of our house has an open fire on which we burn coal/wood. This was Christmas a couple of years back. The stove throws out much more heat as you'd imagine! :)

Welcome and cool set up. It's interesting to see how people from other parts of the world set up their systems.

Cheers Schlot, after trawling through many pics, it appears you guys over there don't seem to have the whole 'chimney./alcove' setup that is 'rife' over here!

That looks much better with a stove in it ;). We don't tend to see many coal installs like the one in the picture over here. One thing I cant get enough of is your stoves across the pond they are really interesting to look at. I must ask this most likely obvious question ;lol why the alcoves what is there purpose ? I spent time over there in various countries but not much in England.

Ahh, that's a different room, that's our front room that WAS our living room which last month we moved to the back room so we now have an open fire in the dining room and stove in our living room. Does that make sense?!

Alcoves, the only reason I can think of is the brickwork of all the original fireplaces that head up to the roof and through the bedrooms. All the bedrooms have open fires in (or did when they were built!)

PS, The above is in Wales :)

ugh... More euro snobs on the forum ;). Just Kidding. suisidevw, welcome. Looks like a nice place and that stove set up looks great.

Welcome! I love the look of your stove, and your room! Enjoy the warmth and do hang around for some good conversation here. :)

This is completely off topic but I am curious does the Welsh government completely rule itself now ? Ok back on topic That must be awesome to have two fires going. It like an looks amazingly nice install. We have a few other members from across the pond here to it is always good to see more.

Hi SuisideVW and welcome to hearth.com from another on your side of the pond. :)

Hi all,

Thanks for the nice welcome! Will certainly be hanging around :)

No PP, The Welsh Government don't completely rule the Country however they are given more powers what seems like annually by the central British government! They do have quite a lot of say though in how things are run!
