Got 5 cord of rounds split and ready to stack. Nice, now that the mosquitoes are gone and it's cool enough that I don't sweat. Did I ever mention that I hate to sweat? I had to take off my jacket and work in my T-shirt

I have another 5 cord of logs that still need to be bucked up. Will be tackling it shortly but I don't like to run my splitter when it is really cold so I put it up for the Winter now. Will be splitting this next 5 cord in Spring.

I think one of the best parts of reading about various wood processing adventures is where people talk about the climate, landscape, etc.
It's just hard to imagine working in a T Shirt outside when it's about 10* here.

I would have guessed Ontario to get fairly cold?

I'm right on the Canada/US border (49th) so there is a lot more North of me. The ground is frozen already. Need to dump the ice out of the dog's water pail every day to give her fresh water.

Not used to such mild weather. Rarely gets down to -40 here. I have worked all across NWO from Kenora to Geraldton to Timmins, mostly Winter work.

sounds like a lot of wood, LL. I like cutting in the winter, so long as it isn't brutally cold. We do tree work all winter long, until it gets down into the teens or lower. Then, if their is snow on the ground, I'll run the sleds over at the farm and work on getting some of the old tops and blowdowns out of the woods. I love being out in the woods in the snow.......

This is my favorite time to cut and split wood.Your not a snack for some insects and i don't care to have my clothes soaked with sweat.I remember 3 years ago when i put up a 6 ft satellite dish and needed some line of site.I took down 7 pretty big trees while i was on vacation in July! I turned out to be a very hot and humid time with temps in the upper 90s.I started cutting around 8 am and stopped by 11.

Don't forget Spring. I do a lot of my bucking in Winter and and split it in the Spring. It goes pretty fast. I do sometimes run the splitter in Summer too, just don't like to. Did I mention that I hate to sweat? The 5 cord I just finished splitting, I should have done last Spring but procrastinated. It sat as a stack of rounds all Spring and Summer. The upside of that is the rounds weren't so heavy and didn't squirt me with sap.

The pic in my avatar was taken in Spring.

And for a geography lesson, I can drive SE and be in Canada. If we go that way we usually go almost straight east and cross at Port Huron. I sure as blazes do not want to drive to Detroit to cross over.... Nuff said about that mess.

I have a son in Windsor and he would have to drive North to go to Detroit.

Many North Western Ontario residents almost don't consider themselves to be part of (Southern) Ontario which is where most of our tax dollars go.

In 2005, some residents of the region expressed dissatisfaction at the level of attention paid to the region by the provincial government. Some, most notably former Kenora mayor Dave Canfield,[2]and Fort Frances town councillor Tannis Drysdale, have proposed the idea of the region as a whole, or parts of it, seceding from Ontario to join Manitoba

Don't suppose they'd take Detroit too do you? It's mostly vacant property now. Couldn't cost that much to dig a canal around it, right? A C

Canada and the States have much in common. Some want to bail out!

I don't mind the bitter cold, so long as it's not too windy. When it gets that cold, it is usually dry and you can dress for it. When it's closer to the freezing mark around here, it's usually damp.

Not many Canadians care for the 'Big Smoke', which is Toronto. I moved out years ago.

I got most of the 5 cord all stacked yesterday and today with help from the wife. She's a keeper.

It was drizzling today and then turned to snow just as it started to get dark. I had to finish it off in the dark with just a headlight.

I'll try to get pics of the stacks tomorrow.

The pics as promised.

Very nice indeed! What's all that white stuff on your stacks?

It's coming back in with a vengeance. Hovering around the freezing mark here for the next couple of weeks. Not like the t-shirt weather of earlier this week.

Ties in really nice with the colour scheme of Hearth.com
