I have a Quad Santa Fe insert on my second season and would like to upgrade to a digital thermostat to replace the factory slide type. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles, just a good one. My thoughts would be on @ 68 and off @ 71. One that Lowes carries would be great as I have a store in my town and I like to purchase locally to provide job security to my neighbors. Still a newbe on the pellet stove front and appreciate the knowledge of the seasoned users. Thanks!

My Lux LTX-1500u from Lowe's has a swing setting for pellet stoves that goes from 1-9 , each step is 0.25 Deg F each way for a 4.5 Deg F total swing. I like this T-Stat because the # 2 dip switch on the board changes it from 5-1-1 programmable to full manual operation!

This T-Stat keeps the shed/workshop cozy connected to the Quadrafire Santa Fe with a toggle switch to turn it on from the house. :)

Don, Thanks for the tip. I'm going to check all the recommendations from members and make a decision soon. This site is a great resource for people like me. Thanks!

The thermostat I recommended also has a swing adjustment of 3 degrees, which is way more than you will find comfortable. When the temperature gets low enough to call for heat, your temperature will continue to fall until the little Sante Fe starts putting out enough heat to halt the drop. Depending on the outside temps, the size of the room your heating and other factors, the temp might fall 2 degrees more. That would mean with a 3 degree swing, you would see a variation of 8 degrees. I know MY WIFE would never let me get away with that.

What are the high/low settings that you use to keep your home in a comfortable range? My wife has mood swings when there are temp. swings, and guess who really suffers for it?

I'm looking into picking up this unit today. My current thermo doesn't have a swing... at least i can't figure it out and the manual doesn't say anything. I'm killing my power bill with these on/offs and the ignitor too.

Looking at this one, i also don't see anything about it in the manual.

where/how is this set?

Now the Sante Fe doesn't have what is called 'high/low' (ability to switch from high heat to low heat when thermostat is satisfied). It has on and off. I keep a 1 degree swing which gives me one degree above my setpoint of 73 and then the temp drops to 72, the heater comes on but if it's cold and windy outside, the temp will drop down to 71 before the stove halts the drop. So my ACTUAL variation is 71 to 74 with a 1 degree swing. You can make it tighter if you want but the stove will be starting and stopping a lot.
