US Stove Window Unit?

Any one have a comment on one.( Good,Bad or ugly ) ?

It's had a pretty bad track record on these forums and I've pretty much only heard bad things about it. It's also been connected to at least couple house fires here in Maine.

Ugly about sums it up.

We have no way to separate the cause or causes of the fires we have read about, at least one member here has posted a picture of metal burn through above the burn pot.

Exactly why that happened we don't know.

However it isn't a good thing when metal close to the fuel supply (hopper) gets reduced to red metal oxide.

You have many possible causes for that several of them not exactly what you'd want to have to deal with.

Ya, and that same person says "I've also never had the setting above 2." He's heating a small space and one of his reasoning for other's issues is that they shouldn't try to heat a larger space. Well, I don't care if it is run on it's highest setting, the highest setting shouldn't be capable of melting the steel in the stove and burning down a house. It should function properly and safely whether on low or high.
