Hello

Looks like some pellets were damp and the auger is jammed. Pellets do not feed, not even in test mode. Since there is no auger cover, what are the best steps here?

remove the back cover, remove the auger motor, remove the two nuts holding the auger in and pull it out. That is it.

might be a good idea to empty the bin as well first......otherwise, if the slide plate is open and you clear it, you'll have a mini pellet avalanche thru the auger opening! Also, sometimes by clearing out the bin, you'll find the obstruction on top of the feeder opening, and there is no need to take anything apart....

I always start by using my "nice words" and if that doesn't work...then I get out the tools.

Thanks Eric

I see Harman is using 4 RPM Gleason Avery Feeder Motors now. Actually they always did. The old motor I pulled out of the 6 year old stove was a Gleason Avery too. However it was an old propeller head one. LOL

Hello

Well it was a little more than just 2 bolts with that old chain drive to the auger motor in the way! Not to mention the auger is sealed with silicone too! LOL There were no damp pellets so that tells me it is the stoves fault! LOL So I pulled the auger and took out the wire wheel for the drill/driver and got all the carbon off. Then cleaned the chute and used a wire brush everywhere the drill could not reach! It got real shiny but still not smooth. So I sprayed the auger chute and the auger with the "Dry Moly Spray".Then for good measure I changed out the old Gleason Avery feeder motor with a brand spanking new one! It only took 3 hours then my friend had to run off. It dropped pellets fine, the auger turned like butter!

Do you think the stove will work now since the auger jam was the only issue?

Hello

My friend called. When he came home the stove was working and his house was warm! I guess that solved it!

They done away with the chain drive on the new units.

Interesting, thanks again Eric! The cleaned auger and dry moly spray makes it turn so freely, like it was brand new!

This is the new feed system on the Advance. Of course it is upside down.

Clean stove is most often a happy stove.

Thanks, Does the Motor stick out of the back now? How does it connect to the Auger?

Like most Harman it connects directly to the auger and has one set screw. Still the same housing. Harman is always working to improve their stoves.

Eric

That is a Breckwell style stove.
