Somerset Pellets

Hey all,
Got a ton of the somerset pellets at Lowes for 209 a ton. So far i am really liking them. Very little ash and little fines. Best attrib so far is no caking on the burn pot I some other pellets do in my Breckwell. Highly recommend them. I will pick up another ton this weekend. Just clearing out the shed this week to make room.

Why can't I find any good deals? I was in NH on business today and swung by a Lowes in Nashua -- just Green Supremes and Infernos there.

If you're in the Newburgh store, pick up 3-4 bags of the Timber Heat (AKA Dry Creek)....they were in the courtyard outside in the garden center last I knew. The pallet had been broken open, so I grabbed the bags there. They burned great in my stove.....real nice heat.

If my choice was limited to Green Supreme and Inferno's, I would be selling my stove and paying the Propane man!

& the company is Southern Ky Hardwoods. They are red & white oak & burn just as hot as

I sold about 300 tons of Country Boy in the Spring and have been calling those customers for tha last 2 weeks looking for feedback on them. Overwhelmingly positive! Nice, clean pellet with great heat. Problem is that I can only afford to bring them in during the spring and summer months when I can buy them cheap so I won't have anymore for this season. It is the only pellet that I ever sold that cost me less for the pellet than for the freight charges to get them into my warehouse! But, as far as the quality they are stellar!

I was really happy last year with the Stove Chows but between Chows and Sommersets, Sommersets are a far better pellet, at least in my stove.

I get them from Steve every year since Lowes stopped selling them back in 2009-2010

Next year me and 7 of my friends are ordering a trailer load straight from Somerset.

OMV did you say he raised the price to 279?

I paid 269 this year and 259 last year.

Even at 269 they are worth it, less time having to clean my stove.

You gave a good price, I would come get 3 ton next year from you, but too much of a hassle trailering from your house to mine.

All the ct dealers should get together and order a train-load full to fill their warehouses. For all brands. 1 full train could get them here pretty cheap.

In theory, its really that simple.....
But its a very common misconception. You see, any time you rail pellets in by train, it usually costs more money than trucking them, unless it is a couple thousand miles, like Brittish Columbia. Pellets are trucked from the manufacturer's yard to the nearest short-line railroad....This will run us about $20/ton minnimum. Then they are unloaded and then re-loaded into a warehouse. Another $5-7 per ton for handling and storage. Then the train car gets loaded and taken from a short-line to a main rail like CSX or BNSF....Yawn....Another chunk of money depending upon which line, but expect it to be about $40/ton each track. Then the train car gets unloaded and held at a warehouse $5-$7 per ton. Then everyone says "Holy Sh*t!", abpot 10% of the pellets are broken and spilled all over the train car. (It really happens!) Then, the pellets get put onto a truck (Another $20/ton) and taken to us dealers in CT who try to sell them for more than we paid for them....Not all that easy in reality.
