Time to fill the wood box.
-10°f, so start a fire to help it warm up & burn up some Costco boxes.
2 trailer loads to the house.

Clear & sunny. Getting close to not losing daylight, will be adding minutes to the less than 6 hour days soon :)

Not much snow yet Dave huh? I noticed its been frigid up there so far but I thought there would be more snow on the ground, not like last year but some.

bogydave,
I know that this doesn't really follow your thread, but I've always wondered how you adjust to the constant daylight at this time of year. Heck, we have trouble with daylight savings time twice a year and that's only one hour ahead or back!

Looks like you're all set for the snow & cold bogydave. Looks like the jetstream will dip south which will allow your cold air to come down.

Opposite in the winter. Gotta work fast, or have lotsa lights.

Last year we had allot more snow. Now with no snow for insulation & the sub zero temps, the ground is freezing down deep.
Some folks are having troubles with frozen water pipes.
Dry, 16% humidity in the house with 2 humidifiers running 4 gallons a day thru them.
At least the stacks are drying :)

Mostly dark now, 5 hour of sunshine here. Sun came over the Mts at 11:05 this morning, gone around 4 PM.
June it's daylight all the time. I like June better :)

I hope it don't hit you to bad. Some -30° temps will be headed south when the change comes.
A slight chance of snow for us & supposed to get into the +20°s.

Wow, that's really low humidity. You weren't kidding when you said the new stacks were freeze-drying. Stay warm Dave, you can now just sit back and enjoy the warmth.

like your pictures Dave, post some with those mountains in the background...

You guys in Fairbanks & North Pole have some sever temp extremes.
In the winter you are about 25°s colder than here & summers are about 10°s warmer.

I don't know how you guys do it! Was -18* Wednesday morning and it wasn't exactly pleasant. Warmed up to -12* this morning.

We have about 8 hours of daylight, though the "offical" day is only about 5.5hrs. Starts getting light around 9 and it's dark by 4:30. Really not a HUGE difference between here and were I grew up in Northern Maine.

Chicken, AK had six straight days hitting -50°F. The coldest low was -56°F. Coldest temp we've seen in the U.S. so far this season: -58 degrees F in Tok, Alaska on Tuesday morning.

Cold air has been locked up across the interior of Alaska since the middle of November; however, the most intense cold has been in place since Nov. 24, 2012.

I'm hoping not too much of that cold comes down here. At least hope it waits until January.

I am jealous of your wood Dave ! Nice looking install with the stone too !

Pete
