Can any Lopi Leyden owners let me know what the usual frequency for cleaning their Leyden glass is? Mine was just self-installed and running great but noticed that the glass was covered over in light ash on about 2/3 of the top part of the glass in just over a day. I can still see the flame but it is is hazy. Ideas?

Every situation is different. Pellet brand, heat setting, air flow through the stove, etc, etc all have an effect on the window. Very few stoves will stay completely clear for long. Mine starts getting a haze after about 24 hrs.

Thanks. At least she cleans easy.

I see you have a Harman Accentra.... how does that compare to the Lopi, as far as the window getting ashy?

Yup, I have the Leyden too and it doesn't take long (1-2 days?) for my glass to get ashy and dirty after a cleaning. I do a cleaning every weekend when I vacuum out the ash pan and firebox. It looks nice while watching football.

I haven't hooked up the Accentra yet. Will let you know.

Yeah when I watch the Giants I like to have it clean. Hopefully that's who you are routing for too.

Go PATS!

Hey Rickkorn,
I see you have the SkyTech 3301 remote on your signature. I have the same on mine. Works well I think so far. Have you had to replace your ignitor? Just started burning my 2008 Lopi Leyden with the Skytech 3301 and was advised by another user that he's replaced his ignitor every two years? You?

I have a 2008 Leyden as well, I get the same ash build up as you described usually after 24 hours or so, usually the top 2/3 is hazy after 12 hours. BTW GO PATS!!!! Way to steamroll the TEXANS!!!!

Thanks Utilitrack. Any good webite you can recommend if I ever need an ignitor for this stove? I am using the thermometer and am sure that ignitor will go sometime soon.
Go Blue!

zrtmatos- I am still on the original ignitor from '08- I do NOT use a thermostat so hopefully it won't be an issue for a while.

Hopefully the Patriots will have a chance to redeem themselves against Eli and company in New Orleans in February. One thing about the Giants is certain, you never know what you are going to get week to week, but somehow they find themeselves in the mix at the end.::-)

My Leyden is from 2008 too and my ignitor crapped out in 2010. I replaced it this past year and it works fine now. I have read that Travis Industries tightly controls the territory of their dealers, including who can sell replacement parts (but shhh... you should be able to get one at the best price over the internet:)).

My original ignitor is still working. Stove is always run on the stat. I have a spare for when it goes. I keep the area around the ignitor clean of ash.

Replacing the ignitor is an exercise and workout in itself. You'll be basically working upside down as you lay over the top of the stove to have access to the back of the stove.
