The hopper uses a "flat" or "tape" type gasket..
A 1/2" or a 5/8" flat gasket will work fine. Most stove shops or even hardware stores will have them. If you don't want to wait or pay for shipping.

StevieB Thanks. I would like to support Englander but $32 is a just to high. $12.50 for shipping? The $18 custom fit thing isn't bad though.

Did the dollar bill test on the hopper door and it slides right out. The stove door was aok.

I agree, that is pretty steep for one gasket. The hopper lid latches are adjustable if the gasket is still ok but just compressed.
Dexter has a good idea. Thats how I replaced the door gasket on my king stove. The one from the hardware store needed trimmed a little bit but was a good gasket for the money!
England Stove Works usually has an early-bird special every year where you can buy a kit with all of the gaskets for the whole stove. Seems to me like it was around $35 but don't quote me on that. I was on their email list so I always got informed when the special was going on.

Yeah I am going to try and tighten the hopper lid latches and see if that does it that may cause a lazy burn. They do seem somewhat smooshed but I have no frame of reference to compare them too. So today I have to do the LBT and adjust the lid latches, reseal some leaks in the dura leak exhaust venting and .... That'll be my project for today..

That isn't for a complete gasket kit, that's for a length of adhesive gasket that you cut to fit the edges of the hopper. I'm not sure why they used high temperature gasket, the top of the hopper on mine isn't that hot. I decided against tampering with the design so I bought it from ESW.
yea i try to go oem asmuch as possible,unless its considerably cheaper. i just adjusted the hopper lid and its better but could use new one. A am judging this based onthe dollar bill test.
How much affect does a poor hopper lid seal make? I have opened the hopper and put pellets in for that 2mins or so seemed the same to me.

That's a good question, I've been playing with mine that last few minutes, I see no difference in flame with hopper lid open.

Flame difference may be minimal. But in the event of a hopper fire? You want as little O2 coming in that hopper as possible.

considering flame would have to go through the bottom and top auger is that even remotely likely? i certainly want to err on the side of caution but have to ask.

i look at designs of various contraptions and go "why didnt they do this or that" for a hypothetical issues thst just never happens, then i go "theres no way that could ever happen" but it does.........point is there is no substitute for experience.

so early sat morning i did the usual pellet stove maintenance and while i was at it i replaced my hopper door gasket. i used a 5/8 rope fiberglas type that was at lowes for 8 bux and it came w/cement. it is a tight fit (especially near the hinge) but does work, if i had thechoice i think 1/2 inch would bebetter.
