Oh great. Now I gotta rip open thirty bags looking for long ones.

So now instead of searching the threads for the best pellet we will be looking for for the ones with long pellets hoping they are available in our area to score a few bags and win that dime:cool: I'm in I''l see what I can do.

I'll bet I have a vintage bag of Pennywise or Vulcan pellets at the bottom of my shoulder season pile. Might have to dig later. Only about 1 ton of pellets could stand between me and a dime.

I save a little sample from every new brand and even different years.

The vintage 2010 AWF were the looong ones. Since then, they have all been short and this year they are a fantastic pellet. Short, hot, clean..

I also save a Bag from each brand. I am up to almost 20 different brands.

These are all different brands. I have other samples, but they are year to year of these brands to compare. But I aldo measure heat with a Cole Parmer K-type thermocouple and stack my pellets with a laser line and plumb. ;)
Jotting everything down in a notebook, along with usage (fuel and electric).!!!

Pellets are all shapes and sizes... Long and thin to short and fat.

No need to sell yourself short?!?! ;)

Nice baggies kind of remind me of the ones I had Back in the days ,just weren't full of pellets;) all though it was a renewable resource:cool:

You can be sure I'll dig, but I'm going to have to dig deep. If there are any 2009 Pennywise pellets at the bottom of my stash then I have a chance at top 5 if nothing else. The Vulcans from 2008 were worse.

I'm going to have a hard time explaining to the wife why I'm in the pole barn, pellets scattered on the workbench with a beer in one hand and a ruler in the other. I can see her eyes rolling already. "But honey, it's for a major award... "

"But honey there is a prize for the longest one."

"Give it up dear and go to bed."

"How do you know that?"

I've been burning Pennywise for 2 years and never noticed any oversized pellets, they must have fixed the problem. I had some Lumberjacks that were as long as my... ur you know.. but they weren't a problem either ;em

duh. those who say size doesn't matter are either A. lying or B.trying to make you feel better, ;)
