I live in maine and may be getting a boiler but, I dont know who I would get to move it to basement? threw house down stairs? Hard one for sure. I am disabled cant do much. The one thats down there is about 450lbs, one i may get be 950lbs,I just dont know how this could be done, any ideas????

Ozzie, if you can not do it and do not have help to do it i would look into a rigger to do it. I had one customer beef up his stairs put it on a moving dolly.(heavy duty one) put a pipe or 4x4 in the ceiling over the door way and lowered it ever so gently. Also the company that you are buying from capable of getting into the cellar for a fee?

If your grade around the house allows it, even with a little retaining wall work..........
A walkout bsmt. will greatly help with your future wood hauling as well. The rigging/moving cost may be enough to take a good dent out of adding bsmt acess costs.

I have installed many boilers in cellars. I use an appliance dolly. Strap the boiler to the dolly, slack down the stairs with a rope to a truck bumper.

Call your local moving co. I worked in that industry for 15 1/2 years we used to do that kind of thing all the time. Plus they are insured if anything goes south.

Hey Ozzie, call over to Days welding in Medway. If they can't do it they should know someone that could. The right people, with the right equipment, should be able to roll a 450lb unit across the floor and down the stairs.

I periodically drive by houses with truck bumpers laying in the yard with a rope tied to them. Would those be some of your installations. Smirk, chuckle, guffaw!

That was like a joke right?

I was hoping you'd laugh. Looks like I failed.
