New inexpensive igniter for my 25-PDVC

I haven't been happy with the igniter in my PDVC since I rebuilt the stove last summer. After talking with ESW I made some adjustment to the position of the igniter and got acceptable results. Then it got slower and slower to the point that the firepot was full before it caught or I got an E2 on the control display.
I noticed when I took the old igniter out that it was beginning to swell at it's midsection. It wouldn't have lasted much longer.
After searching for an inexpensive heater I finally found one on Ebay. The diameter matches the original, and the length is just a little short but the actively heated section is the same length. The only other physical difference is the absence of a welded on reference ring for setting the collar position.
I couldn't believe the price when I saw it...$5.00 with shipping included. It came from China so I had to wait about ten days for it to arrive.
I installed it last night and have run two start cycles so far, one last night and one this morning. I had combustion in about three minutes on both cycles. We will have to wait and see how long this lasts, but really, for $5 I didn't feel I could go wrong. Oh and it came with a coupon $5 off on my next purchase!

Nice that you got a cheap ignitor, but I would have gone to a place like Grainger and bought something made in the USA for a little more $$.

not sure how old your PDVC is but if you have a black metal snap over the drill weep hole, remove it for longer ignitor life and faster ignitions.

How do you know that the one from Grainger is made in the US? I expect that Grainger just buys where it can. They probably enforce some level of quality control, but that is what you are paying for.

It says so right in the part description. Most (if not all) of the ones they sell are made by Tempco...American company. Englander uses them for their stoves.

If you walk into a Grainger and get the one that fits your stove, look at the cartridge itself....Tempco stamps their name into the end.
But it seems you want to ignore this as a possible source of US made parts. Whatever....keep sending $$ to China.
