Feeling the Heat

Well, as I do at the end/start of each month I took an inventory to see how many bags of pellets I burned for the month. For December it was 53 total bags or 1.71 bags per day. That brings the yearly (Oct., Nov., & Dec.) up to 124 bags or .68 per day. This leaves me with 229 bags. The question is will that be enough to get through the remaining four/five months of the heating season (Jan., Feb., March, April and at least part of May), which would be 151 days (if you count all of May). I would say it should be as I am estimating about 55 bags each for Jan., Feb., and March, and if that holds it would leave me with 61 bags for April and at least part of May. Usually by then I am not burning 24/7 or on high. Of course I will not tell the wife this so I can pick up a few bags here and there to test out. ;) What have you all burned so far and will your stash be enough;?

Around 2 tons so far for me. Almost 4 tons left in the stash. Prob use 3 of em anyway :(

Almost at the 1 ton mark.. And a cord of wood :)

Fuel.....? I think I'm gonna make it! ;)

One ton down the hopper, three tons on hand.

I feel better now.:) I thought I was doing really bad. I burned 46 in December, and 1.71 tons ytd. I have 161 left, so unless it warms up a lot, I'm going to be short.

As of 12/31, I used 117 bags, that's with 2 stoves. But more important I used zero oil, and it's been that way for 2 years. Couldn't be happier (and warmer).

Maybe Thirty bags so far an seven left.

As of 12/31, 78 bags!!! 40 of them were used during the month of December. I wasn't expecting to use nearly a ton in one month. It looks like the temperature will continue to drop for the remainder of this week. I purchased more than I need just in case. I rather go pellet hunting in the spring/summer.

58 burned 86 on hand will be short about 1/2 ton or so no worries just pick up 10 -15 bags every 2 wks. to keep stash above 1 ton.;)

I'm right at 59 bags since Oct. 10 startup. I checked last years count, and I'm 2 bags ahead of that, but I started about 5 days earlier this year, so basically I'm just about the same consumption rate. Works out to about .72 bags/day average so far.

About 2 ton. Really burning them up this week. I'll make the winter but the stash will look pretty bad.

Have burned 130 bags as of this A.M...way higher than our typical usage for this time frame. Reasons: I've been home everyday, school closed for two weeks in Nov, etc..etc. Just bought 40 bags yesterday on a Craigslist deal that included a new auger motor, bearing, and gasket. Fairly sure we have more than enough on hand to make it till May, but would like to pickup more of the Pres-to- Logs.

Bag 31 went in the hopper this morning. Going through quite a bit more now that its staying in the 20s.

I've gone through maybe 1/2 cord or 2/3 cord of wood so far also.

I have at least 4.5 ton out in the barn. I haven't been keeping very good count of what I bring home.

Bag 48 is in the hopper now. Stove is our sole source of heat. We've got over 3 tons as yet untapped.

Get that furnace in and watch the consumption drop!!!

This thread inspired me to go take a count and figure it out. so here goes. I have had my first stove for just over a month now and with the three tons and random buys I started with 164 bags. I have burned 39 bags as of today so that comes out to .95 bags per day. I figure I have just enough to get me to the end of April maybe a little less since it hasn't really been all that cold in southern NH. My plan is to eventually have a few tons extra each year, just in case the sky falls, but I will wait until spring to make a couple large purchases.

Put bag 54 in the hopper this morning. Have over 3 tons left. Hoping to make it through the winter. At this rate compared to last year I will have just under a ton left at the end of the winter. Still will order 4 tons in April though.

Not sure how many I went through in November but started keeping count in December as of this morning used 21 bags, still have over 4 ton left I think I will be good.

In your area, 4 tons is probably what you need to have each winter. If it's warm, then you'll have leftover for the next.

A ton and a half. And a ton and a half in the basement.

99 bags starting mid (ish) september.

yes i will have enough till winter ends in may. :p

i actually shut everything down april 15th last year. and it was too soon.
burned 4.5 ton last year. hoping to come in around four ton this year. lots of house/insulation improvements. but i guess it really depends on how cold it gets for how long.
