Harmon P68 Lazy dirty flame

Hello. I am new to the site but have had my p68 for 2yrs. We have always had the stove on room temp mode with the igniter set to auto and at night or when not at home we turn the stove down a ways. Recently when it starts up after being out for a while it has the lazy, really dirty flames. This lasts for about 2-3 minutes and then it seems to catch up and burn right but not before getting the top 1/4 of the glass black with soot. It acts as if when it starts up it puts too many pellets into the burn pot so that it lacks air. A few dont get completely burned and then it catches up and burns pretty good. Switching the igniter to manual fixes that problem but doesn't solve the issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Clean the stove, especially the exhaust area.

Also clean the air intake below the burnpot.

Also clean all the vent pipes.

Clean the stove and vent pipe and I bet the problem goes away.

Go to harman.com a get link to how to clean the stove. Some of us seem to forget a thing or two about the maintenance of our heaters. I was just there to take a look at how to clean a P61. The stoves are easy to clean but you will get a bit dirty doing the job properly. Good luck and stay warm.

I assume that you hook up your leaf blower to the vent flue and blow the ash right on thru. Correct me if I'm wrong

You hook up the VACUUM side of the leaf blower to the venting outside the house, then SUCK the debris out. This is after cleaning everything with brushes, etc. It's to get the ash that the other methods leave behind.

There is a precedent (that won't be identified by me) for doing it the wrong way. He spent some time in the dog house - maybe he's out by now...

There are also you tube videos of people doing the leaf blower trick the hard way using the blower side on the air intake of the stove via their OAK.
