I emptied the last wood from my trailer into my "Bilco" door New Years Day, so I needed to try to make a run down the yard to my wood piles. Today appeared to be the best shot for it with temps dropping to below 10 here last night, was hoping the ground might be froze up under the snow. No such luck. I got down the yard with the empty trailer fine, but when I tried to get back up to the house with a full load my Highlander just started burying itself. That ground is still soft underneath! And temperatures are headed back up the next 10 days. Oh well, break out the wheelbarrow and start humping loads up the tire tracks. Been here before.................. Boy do I miss that old Farmall M of mine, I've definitly got to bite the bullet and get me a new/used tractor for next year. Had no problems driving the Toyota back up without the trailer, it's just no tractor that's all.

Thanks for the offer Steve, but I'll be ok. Toyota's in the Garage and I humped several loads of nice 3 year aged Ash up. Have a bunch of little stuff to burn but needed some big evening splits. Like we were talking the other day, the yard is too soft to really drive on it without messing it up. Already messed up that spot in front of my piles. We need cold temps and little/no snow for it to freeze up. This snow is deep enough that it is just insulating the ground underneath. About all you can do out back is just go out and cut and stack for better (worse) weather. I may have to go back over and talk to Buckey sooner than I planned! :confused:

Well, Icould always bring over the 'Beave' and get ya square away. She doesn't weigh too much... 1100lbs without the loader.... the wheelbarrow doesn't sound fun at all... i have a little wagon I could bring over and help ya move some wood to the house...

Thanks again, I might consider that. I don't mind the wheelbarrow, and as you've seen of me, I can use the exercise to help loose a few lbs. :p The other thing I have done before is use my snow blower to clear a loop around the yard to the pile and back so that I can then run my chained JD mower and garden cart on the frozen ground in the early am. If you get that snow off the ground it will freeze right up on the surface at night. I'll let you know. Sent a PM about a bar/chain question.

I gotta work this weekend, but next weekend (I know, Way Late, right?) I would come and hang with both of you...

We can have a Little 036/360 Cutters Club (my other PRO comes tomorrow) !!!

I have a 400 Big Bear 4x4 ATV, a FX4 F-150 Super Crew, or a Jeep Cherokee that I could bring to help??

Seriously though, we need to plan something. I'm getting the "itch"! And I don't want to scratch it with my saw (got hurt last time :() ;em

you guys gotta give me a heads-up......I'd drive a couple hours west for a day of hardcore cutting......

You know me, Dex.......::-) I'll do it!

My "plain jane" 036 is tore down awaiting that new pro carb from Hong Kong:(, but my 360 pro is in the basement with a brand new rapid super chain on it ==c , AC says I need to get it dirty. Do your inlaws over here burn wood? You could cut them a load from those 100+ tops that are down, and then load and haul it to them sometime this summer once my road dries up. I'm planning on going up to the Berea "show" that weekend one of those days.

Then some following weekend we can play with you "up on your ridge".

I'm always down for cutting. i could use a few loads of that 2-3 year old stuff and a couple of the green stuff too, or just cut some for whoever. we'll knock those hundred plus tops out fairly quick and get some firewood ready for ya to sell... we could just have a cutting party... lol.

Anybody need a Fiskars X25? bought it at wallmart for 50 bucks and used it once. I like the longer X27 because i split where I cut and don't use a splitting block. the 25 is more suited for a splitting block with its shorter handle.

so I'm not the only one to use rocks for a fire pit eh? mine is only 5' in diameter though. I used rocks that were all over my property.

Ahhhh... home sweet home==c

Always be careful of the types of rocks you use around fire pits. I was hunting down in the NY southern tier one winter and got a good fire going at the campsite after a day in the woods. It was real windy so I gathered up some big pieces of Slate type material to stand upright to block the wind. About an hour later BOOM. Pieces went flying everywhere like shrapnel, I could not believe I was not hit.

Ya he's not far from me, I spoke to Stang the other day. He's close enough to stop out.
We could trade some labor, help each other out.

Hey Sean, is that big maple free and clear to fall? Or if we screw up are we going to be calling your insurance agent and the power company since Hartville and the east side of Akron just lost power! ::-) I don't need any wood, I've got 100+ mostly oak tops down out here, but I'd be up to helping you out with it.
