Burning Hunk

I knew my M55 insert had the old style blower. I did nothing. Came home today after working 10 hours to a balmy 62 degree home and a pissed off dog. My stove is blinking #4. No problem, I said. I'll hop on Hearth, find the high limit switch, reset, and call the dealer on Monday. Enter horrific noise from stove. Pulled it out to find my convection blower HANGING down and broken. If you own an M55, I beg of you to look at the convection blower. If it is square on the right side, get a warranty replacement. Don't be like me. BTW, my oil boiler is down right now because of...you guessed it....a blower!

The biggest positive here is that Preston Trading Post, where I bought the stove, is open until 9pm and is in the process of pulling a blower out of a floor model as we speak. I'm posting this then driving down there. Thank you guys for giving me the knowledge to know the blower is a warranty replacement. My procrastination is on my shoulders...lol.

Don't forget to take the broken one with you to trade in for warranty purposes.

I forgot about that but they said just bring it in when I pick up my burnpot being replaced under warranty. Wish I would've read that before I left but not a big deal.

In case anyone is doing it in the future without a wiring diagram...yes, white to white, purple to blue.

Got the new blower in and yes, it is a little louder, but it moves a TON more air than my old one. However, my old one was
a. dirty (I know, it should be cleaned regularly)
b. bent to all hell (I know, if I cleaned it regularly I would have noticed that sooner)
c. completely broken (I know...)

Thank goodness for Hearth.com and all of you guys sharing your knowledge. And also, I am very happy with my choice of dealers. Can't say enough good things about how they treat me every time we interact. One more plug for them...Preston Trading Post in Preston CT. Thanks to all the heat is on and the wife and dog are a little LESS pissed at me now.

I was going to join the Procrastinator's Club, but never got around to it, either.

The dog is doing well, curled up next to the stove...almost touching it. It's 75 in here and the wife said "It feels cold..." Thank God the stove is fixed because we would single handedly be responsible for global warming if we were burning oil to keep her warm.

I have adjustable auger cover already but thanks for the heads up.

OAK is not installed. It's an insert in a centrally located fireplace (no outside wall to blow out the back of the chimney). Was going to run up the chimney with it but concerned about sucking the exhaust back in. Was going to run through the ash dump but was talked out of it due to the size restriction (can't fit full sized oak pipe through cleanout hole).
