It souldn't last long at that price. Looks like new. I'd make a road trip for it if I were in the market for one.

Said he bought it for 1K at HD. Hmmm never seen or heard of it that much. They are 859.00 near me right now and thats the highest I've seen it.

Looks almost new.

IIRC, I paid 799 or 899 for mine. I can't remember. Lowest I've seen was something like 599. Don't ask BB what he paid for one.

Matt

If he did buy it three years ago, Home depot would list them from $1099-$1299 at the higher points of the year. I remember seeing the stoves listed at that price just before I picked up the Heritage.

We are.
The general lean is toward a cat stove. The more specific lean is toward a BK Sirocco 20 or 30.
Can't happen until next year though.
I'll wait. Impatiently, but I'll wait.

Or how far away he had to buy it and have it shipped 2/3 of the way across the country. When it was built 143 miles from his house.

Hold on. Are you telling me people don't buy stoves every year? This is hard for me to understand.

Yeah, some of us are abbynormal and keep a stove way too long. Stubborn-ness isn't always a virtue.:p
If only I'd known then what I know now, new stove would have already been in the stove room.
I think I've mentioned this before.

And for others, Lachine is located west of Alpena. It is a long ways from Detroit. lol

This thing is still for sale.

Hopefully, we will be closing on a cottage, about an hour away from there, either next week or the week after. I'm gonna buy it if I can. Should be about right for a quick warmup of 1350 sq ft, sorta insulated.

Anyway, anything in particular to look for? From the black glass, it's probably burned a lot of wet wood, and hopefully not abused too hard.

Looks like they have been burning it with the door open from the look of the paint over the door opening and the trim strip on the top plate lip. Won't hurt it, just dumb to do.

Look close at the two baffle boards. They are around $165 with shipping.

How fragile are those boards? Something I can pull out and look at?

After two months on craigslist, I don't plan on paying their asking price ;)

I wouldn't pay asking either. Probably could use a door gasket, glass gasket and hopefully no baffles. Doesn't say if it has a blower or not. That could be another $100? I did the Home Depot thing last spring and had a new delivered into my garage for $649 and that came with a blower.

To remove the boards at least the front two burn tubes have to be removed. You shouldn't need to do that. You can examine them in place. The are pretty fragile.

Thanks, Bro. I'll take a flashlight.

I don't want to pay too much for a stove. This place will probably be used maybe a half dozen times in the winter. It won't be heated, though, so it might be 20° or less inside when we get there. Need a stove with some 'nads.

Is the blower standard at HD? Will probably be necessary in this situation.

I may be trying to haggle for some dry wood, Dave ;)

Pretty sure the blower is SOP at HD.
Uh, you can have my dry firewood when you pry it from my cold, dead, hands.!!!
How much might you need?
Is it the last place you sent info on?

The one with the beautiful sugar sand Lake Huron beach? That's it.

I doubt it will get installed this winter. The hearth pad looks too small, and is of unknown construction. There is a ceiling support for a chimney, but nothing else. Summer project. I can't imagine burning more than a cord in a year. I'll just buy some for next year.

Getting kinda excited.

I bought 2 10 months apart for $650 each but NO blower with either one. Eventually ill sell one of them.Id like to try a cat stove some day.

Even if it doesn't need a thing done to it I wouldn't pay more than $400 as you still have to pay for gas to go see it, then find someone to help load or potentially make a second trip (more gas) to pick it up. Of course adjust price as necessary if it requires anything. Or wait until spring and order a brand spankin new one, with blower and one threshold delivery for $649 ;).

Around here depending on the time of year they hit 999 to 1099. when spring hits they drop like a rock to 649 clearance.
