Ok just ran through my first ton of Somersets ever through the Invincible Insert and the Ecoteck Francesca...Thanks OMV!

Great heat. In fact, my Francesca "hot smoked" a few times and went into momentary cool down a few times on level 4, the only other pellet that ever did that was a batch of Hamers a couple years ago.

Not so thrilled with the ash, more than I would have expected given the heat. Almost as much as NEWP. Didn't care for the clinking either. Losts of ash stringing. Burn pots both needed maintenance each day towards the end of the ton.

So you folks know, my stoves get a LOT of use and aren't always the cleanest, however...without a big cleaning we just switch to our on of Green Teams....still VERY good heat, no clinking yet on 30 hrs...no ash really visible in there yet either.

I always hop around trying stuff but these Green Teams are really a trusted favorite.

I like them both myself and would burn all GT if nothing else was available but with what I currently have on hand, the Greene Teams have lots more ash than the 'Sets but they do throw off really good heat....purely based on my current experience/batches, it's definitely the Somersets.......

I've burned both this year. I would give a slight nod to the Set's , I haven't had any clinking with either. I agree with slvrblkk this batch of GT's more ash than the Set's. I'm happy to burn either one.

We also have found the Somersets very ashy - kinda disappointing. Our stove heats our place well regardless of pellet, so the excessive ash of the 'sets over other brands *may* be a deal breaker for us (still in discussion stages). Brought up a few bags of Green Teams to use next. Traveled to Ohio twice bringing the ton of 'sets here; meanwhile the Green Teams, Liggies and Country Boys are all available locally and not as ashy. First full year burning, so we're learning. Might have some 'sets for sale.....

Burning Okies and La Crete here this year but burned GT's all last season.
Yes they burned hot but what an enormous amount of ash. First season I ever had a plugged
exhaust. I won't be going out of my way to try this years GT's but if I do I'll be
sure to post the outcome.

I just finished burning 25 bags of GT's from 2010. The ash levels were outrageous. In 6 hours or less, the ash would be falling off the front of my burn pot. Any other pellet it would be closer to 24 hours before that happened.

Wow, you guys are having the ash problems I had with Green Supremes, except with Greene Teams. That's a bummer. Pound for pound after burning pellets for 14 years, the lowest ash brand I have used were the Vermont softies. Still my favorite overall pellet by a mile.

The Sets have seemed to increase in ash over the last 2-3 yrs. I still have a few 2010 vintage bags and the heat is still amazing, but ash 3 yrs ago, is much lower? Don't know what has changed (housing industry has taken a down turn again)??

I only burned 5 bags of Greene Golds last year, but if that's all I could ever have, I would not be disappointed. A very good pellet, good heat, ash was good, and sized appropriately (I like small pellets) :)

Green Team What? Regulars or the Platinum?

Lots of ash on the GT regulars this year. I have burned 1 1/2 tons and have had to sweep the fire box almost daily. Great heat, but a lot of ash.

I have only uysed this year blends of both and i have found the opposite for me. Sets burn hot and very low ash while the GTs were nearly as hot but quite a bit of ash. The sets actually burn so clean in my stove i dont touch the burn pot for days and have an ash line that never reaches the holes in the pot. I scraped the pot twice a day when i was burning GTs.

Strange findings here. Sets are the lowest ash pellet I have ever used. Tons of ash from greene teams and even more ash from oakies.

I have used the GT plats and man they throw some seroius heat but the ash was on par with N Americans, I fond them to have some slightly un burned ones towards the front. I just got a ton of the somersets and will be intersted to see how they compare. The somersets for me were considerably cheaper.

I agree about the Somersets, I still have a few bags from 2010 and they are very low ash, the 2011 and 2012's have the same great heat but a whole lot of ash .

i don't think GT's get much love around here because lowes has hiked the price . however i love them . no somersets in my neck of the woods so not able to compare . they definately beat the spruce points i bought recently .

I am loving my Greene Teams more and more, especially when I think about buying 8 tons at $169/ton (prior to the price increase and stacking the military discount).

Why the difference in pricing?

There shouldn't be that is the problem. People found out that there isn't a difference between the pellets (per Robbie at Greene Team) and got pissed that Lowes and such were charging more for the same pellet. Basically a gimmick to charge more with the fancy name (Platinum, Gold, etc)

I blame it on the company why three different bags with the same product in them. Come on man.I'll go buy Stove chow instead!

That is somewhat reprehensible. To bad I do like the pellet heat from them.

Really though, a lot of companies do this... Great Americans are marketed to the pellet houses as Great Americans....everyone else gets Powerhouse logo bags.....Lowes and such sell North American....everyone else I believe gets Currans.....PA Pellets are Dry Creek and Timber Heats I believe......etc. If CT Pellet is around, he can also enlighten everyone on this too....the problem arose when Lowes started charging a lot of money for the "Platinum" version of GT's which is the same as the rest of the GT's
