These ridiculously huge maps tell you everything you need to know about the next two week’s weather in North America, but there are more details here: http://ow.ly/gykzt

Nice, with my new stove I find myself actually hoping for colder weather! ;)

Dave, are you buring wood in Alabama? Isn't it 90* in the winter in Alabama?

Gotta be gospel. According to:

Hi Machria,
It was 24 this morning.
We have had teens a few morning already!
I am n N.E. Al on the tail end of the Appalachians. Still nothing compared to you guys up north.
Still I want to save all the $2.00 propane I can.
I heat 24/7 with wood.

David

The next ten days, which takes us into the middle of week three of January, are really mild. We will be in the 50s for six of the next 10 days.

Well, think you have that backwards. We don't get as cold up here as you down there! I have not seen 24* yet this year. It was 45* this monring, sun blasting and supposed to get even warmer today. ;)

Didn't realize it got that cold down there....

Yeah that map must be a couple weeks out. Next 10 days here are suppose to balmy with highs in the 30s. Then finally some cold with highs in the teens.

I was starting to think I'd need to pull another half cord out of my stacks to get me through the year, but two weeks in the 30's give me a shot at making it. I need a bigger shed!

I sure hope that cold gets here because for the next couple of days it supposed to be in the mid 50s to 60 degrees. Guess I'm back to starting fires every night  The coldest morning I've had here was 14 degrees and that only lasted for one day

Same thing here. And we are going up to the white mountains this weekend where temps approaching the 40s are expected.

I call BS on that map! ;)

I think those maps are for a week out, after this short little warm up which is hopefully short lived and doesnt melt what little snow we have.

If we get this warmer weather they are calling for starting tomorrow maybe it will allow me to push back some snow that I never did on the northside of the driveway.

If it does get warm enough maybe it will melt enough snow I can work on some Cherry on that same northside.

Somewhat related...Unless we get really blasted in February I think we are in for another well below average snow year here. Only about 8 inches so far and nothing predicted except rain through next week.

The forecasted highs here for this weekend are in the 60's. ive come to the conclusion I have way to much wood. I started the season with 12 pallets stacked up, two rows per pallet all in a line. Ive burned half of two pallets and moved the rest of the first two up on the porch last night. Plus i probably split 6 more pallets worth this year. These mild winters are aggravating with so many cold starts. Im burning more super cedars than anything. Atleast I get to take next year off from wood cutting cuz even in cold weather Id have 4-5 years worth for me probably in this small tight house.

Come get some if you need it hahaha. Im hopin to burn it up one day but not in this weather haha

looks like a big warm up on the way here.

It will be a mess up here, the temps get over freezing starting tomorrow, by Sunday we could be in the low 50's.

We have a chit load of snow so it will be a muddy mess.

Gonna be in the sixties in daytime here by the weekend. But everything points to falling off the cliff by the middle of the month.

Yup BB, same deal here, going up above the freezing mark the next several days then hang on. Gonna get good and frosty here later this month. As well, we have had 30.4" of snow so far this winter. Makin up for the winter we didn't have last year. Got some 9' snow piles pushed up with the loader just keeping the driveway clean. Snow in the bush is just about crotch height, so cutting has come to a screaming halt until late spring.

Past 3 weeks have been below normal (which is 32-35) with night time temps from 0 to 15 degrees. That 13 inches of snow a few days before Christmas, highs in the teens & 3 more inches before New Year's really kept the cold around. Finally a slight warmup starting yesterday of 38,44 today.Supposed to be 40-45 until Saturday, very good chance of rain on Thursday.Falling to the teens-20's by Sunday-Monday with another chance of snow.

Woodburner's hell is usually over here by December. This year it was rock around the clock in November and December and now it is warm days and then in the twenties at night. Total pain in the butt given that there is absolutely no solar gain on the first floor of this barn but the upstairs gets full sun. But the temp up there drops like a rock at sundown.

There are advantages if you burn wood to living somewhere where you can just keep on keeping on.

I hope so. Id just assume keep the stove running then cold starting every day for one fire then letting it go out. In the 50's I gotta run the electric heat so Im not run out of the house. The wood is free, the electric aint

We're supposed to be in the 50's by the weekend. I plan to take advantage of it by refilling the propane tanks we use for the stove and hot water and moving a pallet or so of wood from next to the shed to next to the door (manual process, no tractor). I figure it's not going to last, might as well get some use out of it!

Wish for colder weather to kill off that flu bug,
and of course burn some nice fires in my new wood
stove.
