Many of you know that i have had alot of issues with the stove, so here is a little update. I have not given up yet, and Im currently burning and watching my family member who has asthma, and she seems to be doing ok. After my grandfather, uncle, and I looked at the stove we all agreed that the combustion blower needs to be adjusted, as well as the stove pipe, and a new gasket needs installed. Not hard to do but it is under warranty so I called the stove company. They finally showed up after a month. The gasket is not center, and i have to try and get the scuff marks off mile tiled hearth. I also noticed after he left, the stove pipe has a small buckle in it from him pulling and pushing on it.. I will be redoing seals, and adjustments come spring.. All the other dealers in the area only work on quadrafire so Im SOL. Sorry for the long story,. I know you all have never met me, but I am the most laid back and easy going person you will ever meet. Im not hard to get along with and feel spending 3k total, that i should not be asking to much when I do not want my stove to leak.

I don't care how much I paid for a new stove, let alone 3K, it should not leak, ....good luck and keep us posted...

Vinny you have helped me before with this stove, the way it is now, I can use it. I was getting smoke smell in the house, but at this time I think I have the problem temp fixed, until spring. It only took a year lol. As far as sherwood, Its a regency GC60 which is made by sherwood. As far as I understand they make regency and enviro products.

Also vistaflame and Hudson river stove works brands.

Sherwood is a stand up company, As is Enviro. Its unfortunate you got stuck with a dealer that has loosy cust support. They should have corrected this long ago for you IMHO! From what I understand, They do have field reps that work strickly for Enviro that cover the issues the dealer techs can't handle properly. Not sure if Regency also has them, But I would get in touch with them(regency) and find out.

Some of the Sherwood people have filtered through these forums. One of the techs was very helpful with the M55 questions we had. Unfortunately I have CRS and don't recall his name. Maybe one of the Enviro owners remembers? I think it was Jory??

Sorry you have to suffer through this and hopefully something gets resolved for you. Total bummer IMHO! ;em

Pretty sure you have to deal directly with Regency and plead your case with the shabby dealer care you received. Once they hash through the issue, They may offer the field reps service. You might need to ruffle some feathers to get action.

If that fails go through Sherwood. I can't believe they don't post customer support phone numbers on their sites! Can someone post the customer support number so the world can see?

Thank you for all the support during my numerous posts. I got in touch with the regency office i Baltmore. There suppose to call me tommorrow afternoon. I spoke with a secretary she told me they normally do not speak to customers due to liabilty, but with the trouble I have had she said they would speak with me. Like I said I am running now, but you should not have to go through a dealer who thinks your full of Bs, as well as alot of sealent just to get a good seal. Were suppose to have a cold snap coming in, so Im going to run out to the auto parts store, there is one other small place I want to seal, so im going to get some high temp sealent. I love the stove, and I believe it is a simple fix, with a minor combustion blower adjustment. I could understand the dealer thinking im a pain in the arss if I had no proof of a problem, but when you pull a gasket twice, and it is white at the top and black at the bottom common sense tells you that your not getting a tight seal all away around. Anyway sorry for my rant. Thanks Smokey, Jay, and everyone else you guys are what make this fourm.

Keep everything documented! Take pictures of the damaged tiles also. It's much easier to build a case (if needed) from the start rather than trying to catch up.

Hopefully it won't come to it, but it's best to be prepared should you have to do battle.

Not hard to do but it is under warranty so I called the stove company. They finally showed up after a month. Before i get to the story, i replaced this gasket once, and did it by removing the blower, and it took me about 10 minutes. Dealer showed up, and tells me the same story that im full of BS. I walk into the living room I hear all this noise, and when I go check on him. The stove is moved and torn apart. I said what are you doing? He said trying to get the gasket in. Needless to say, when he left, its sealed, but half ass. The gasket is not center, and i have to try and get the scuff marks off mile tiled hearth. I also noticed after he left, the stove pipe has a small buckle in it from him pulling and pushing on it. Needles to say there not welcome back in home. I will be redoing seals, and adjustments come spring. To hell with them. All the other dealers in the area only work on quadrafire so Im SOL. Sorry for the long story, And I will never buy a product of sherwoods, or from that dealer again. I know you all have never met me, but I am the most laid back and easy going person you will ever meet. Brokenwing, from all the stories here on the Forum, good stove techs are hard to find. If you are handy, it is better doing it yourself. I am now curious as to what is wrong with your setup that is making it leak. If the dealer used a really bad installer, it could be a missing gasket inside the pipes or something that is obvious but you just can't see until you take it apart.

Pictures would help (but i just love pictures). I am interested to see how close the stove model resembles my M55. I am wondering if they also used that quick connect at the exhaust started tube. It was leaking on mine but I could not find it until I pulled it apart.

here is my thread with some pictures. maybe it will help you.

yeah, it definitely looks like that gasket is not tight enough. i had the same issue and ended up creating a thicker gasket by using two gaskets bonded with high heat silicone. i also bent the tabs that hold the starter tube a little bit closer. this was a pain to do. it is a major project.

i am also wondering about the stove adapter on the starter tube. I don't see any screws or any evidence of silicone. You need both. Also, there seems to be a gap in the adapter tube - if so, that would give off major smoke. I don't like that adapter at all. What brand is it?

The starter tube, has heavy silicone, its just black so very blended in. As far as the stove adapter, it was leaking, dealer filled it with rope gasket, and I filled it in on top of that with high heat RTV silionce. The model pipe I am using is Selkirk. I talked to Regency and explained to them that the gasket is not getting a tight seal. They said they would contact the dealer, and find out what has been done, and what is going on. He said the same story I have been hearing, you are the only one in the north east that has had any problem with this stove, but we know this is BS, Vinny you have even had issues. I also contacted Icc, and found out a local chimmney sweep carries ICC Excel pipe and they quoted me 550.00. I eventually want to change the pipe, but that is not the problem it is sealed and working great. I may have to do like you did, and double the gasket and bend the lip in a little. Oh sorry vinny that pic on the right was before the stove adapter was sealed. My fault for not explaining. Also no screws needed, it has a band that is tightned down, with the sealent, and that thiing is not coming off trust me lol.

sounds like a nightmare because people don't take responsibility to know their product and support it. as far as filling the adapter with rope gasket that just doesn't make a good seal that will last.

personally, i would not want just a metal band holding the adapter to the stove - a couple of screws would make to sleep better at night. however that is not your problem currently.

keep hounding the dealer, Regency and even the distributor.

that piece with the folder metal tab is part of the exhaust motor housing which can be unscrewed and swapped out. maybe if they gave you a new one the metal tab will be better folded on that one. if you/they do that, remember to get a replacement gasket for that too.

good luck.

Broken- Understand your frustration completely, that connection is not the easiest. I have found on a couple of M55 stoves that we needed to put screws through the other corners to draw it up tight, because the lower lip that the conn flange sits in gets distorted and doesn't want to fit properly, espec after its been removed a couple of times. I've talked to Enviro about this, their answer is that they don't expect that flange to be taken off every year when the pipe is cleaned ??? Anyway, you can remove the comb blower and clean backwards, (not break the connection) or do the extra gasket thing or put bolts at the corners. I know its extra steps and you shouldn't have to, but its just another field fix we service guys have to do. I know that does not help your frustration level, just as us telling you thats its a good stove prob won't help. I'm still big Enviro fan, all in all good pellet stoves and great wood stoves. Keep poking, someone will listen and get it right for you.

Thanks for the replies, The regency rep said they would call me back in the next day or two so that is where I stand. Its funny to hear these stories, but everytime I am told that I am the only one in the world with suchs a complaint. Stovelark I agree the stove is on now its a workhorse, I just wish they would take credit for some poor engineering when it comes to that bolt up system.

vinny here is a quote from slekirk installastion instructions about the multi fuel adapter,

The Adjustable Pipe Connector (APC) and Multi-Function Connector (MFC)

have an adjustable hose clamp on the inlet end to connect to the flue collar

without the use of supplemental screws.

Hey Broken yeah its rare for a MFR to ever admit that it could have been done better- its always cost per unit and that ugly L word (liability) they don't want to hear that. Good luck sure the rep will help you.

Well I have been burning until today using a lot of tape and sealant. Last night i got a smell so I shut it down, and readjusted a few things. I had one regency tech blow me off, so I called back and lit a fire under there arrss. No more nice guy. So the second regency tech, said i will have the dealer call you when we figure something out, I told him he was full of it, and the last regency tech never called me back. He knew i was hot under the collar. He also said your the only person on the east coast to ever have this problem, I told him to save it, I have heard this a hundred times. So at this point, this is the final plan for the stove. Either going to pull the selkirk pipe and install Icc, and make a new gasket, or I am going to put it on craigslist for 2700.00 and see if anyone calls. It has only had 25 bags through it, and If i can sell it I am buying a P43.

tell the techs to come on here and check our commentary.

really sucks they are not supporting you. you should try the Better Business Bureau.

good luck.

Yep, Sorry for the lack luster support. Still keeping the fingers crossed for ya, Hope it works out in the end.

P43 isn't as purdy, But its a solid performer!
