We have the tv next to the stove. I have the fan on to circulate air. It makes it hard to hear the tv. We can't turn the tv up because kids are sleeping. I don't want to turn the fan off because I don't want it to cold down. What do you do to hear the tv over the fan???

What stove is this? The blower on PE stoves is pretty quiet.

Mine is probably even closer, I just turn the TV up. My kids sleep through noise just fine. I could run the vacuum with them sleeping if I wanted though so I may not be the best to answer. We've always made it a point to leave their doors open and subject them to noise so they wouldn't be light sleepers. The house could fall down around me and I'd sleep through it. :)

I figure you have two choices, turn the TV up or turn the fan off. Maybe you can get external speakers for the TV and move them closer to your seat.

Yes, that's what I thought too. Can the stove fans be turned down to low speed?

How about this?

No kids, but we have one of them, and I can watch a program while my wife reads a book.
I guess with two, you could turn it up like you want to-the charger stand accomodates two headsets.

We mostly turn up the sound on the TV.

When my Princess fans got really loud, I took off the housing and cleaned them. They were totally clogged with dust. Made a huge difference in the noise level as well as in how much air they moved.

I was thinking a cleaning might be needed also.

Matt

If I remember correctly claybe has a pretty new stove. My Princess fans are pretty quiet on low but they do start making some noise when they get turned up.

x2 on this. Vibration is a big factor in total noise and squirrel cage blowers pick up crud and get slightly out of balance. Removing the crud, as you say, increases efficiency, but also cuts down on vibration, which in an insert gets transmitted to all that "tin" hanging off them and can make quite a racket. I cleaned my fans last week and they no longer compete with the TV.

I have the same issue, but we don't worry about noise with kids. The bearings were getting loud on ours too. Two things worth mentioning:

- ~$25 rheostat for fan speed. Ours is much quieter on slowest speed.

- I oiled mine with silicone spray to get rid of bearing noise. Spray can w spray hose.

Stove is only 2 months old. I guess I just need to turn the fan off or way down when watching tv. I am very sensitive to noise and can't ignore it!!!

Surround sound speakers? Put a couple behind the couch...

Turn the TV volume up, you and the kids will get used to it.
