...the burning kind.....

I have an enerzone 2.5 zc that does the best it can on our house (3000 sq feet including the finished basement) but it could definitely use some help. Of course the regular furnace helps now but I've got the Blaze King fever.

So up pops a used princess insert on CL that could easily fit into my gas insert location (a real nice Mendota unit).

2000 bucks with the liner and one year of use. Good deal?

I say buy, but as always, try to haggle. Check the cat out. A new one is $2-300 Have you priced a new one near you? $2k would be pretty good around here.

The used liner is only good for you if it is long enough. Is it insulated? You will want it to be with the typically low flue temps of a BK.

It is just me but I think the minute you light a fire in a stove it is worth half of retail. But like anything else in life, it is worth what you are willing to pay for it.

He has 20 ft of 7 inch class A. Would the princess run fine on a 7 inch pipe?

Yeah, even for the SuperVent @ Lowe's, that pipe would cost ~ $500, but it's also easy to mess it up installing/uninstalling.
Would your install call for class A pipe?

I think most 6" stoves would be fine with 7" pipe, but BK's are notoriously finicky about draft. I don't recall anyone running a Princess with 7". . .maybe ask BKVP.

There have been a couple with 7" pipe here recently with overdraft problems. Don't know if it's actually the 7" pipe or not, but the two had that common factor, with nothing else out of the ordinary.

I thought this was an insert?

I'm new to this, my 2.5 zc was installed for me and I didn't pay a lot of attention to stove pipe lingo. Now I need to learn.

I suppose what I need is actually a "liner", no? Something like this:http://www.ventingpipe.com/duravent...ector-from-the-duraflexss-304-series/p1762942

I probably don't need what he has.

The more I look at the details, the less I think this will work. I currently have a very nice gas insert (a Mendota) in the fireplace. But I think the original fireplace was a pre-fab and I don't think this will work for the blaze king.

Thoughts?

Here is a pic of my current gas stove...

X2, I feel the same way, once someone uses it I'm a 50% guy.

Well it was only used a few times one season. A person could probably talk him down a bit more, maybe 1500 and now you're talking essentially half price and it has hardly been used.

$1500 would be my top dollar, I hate buying used unless its a good deal, you would need a 6" flex liner, I couldnt open your link so not sure if thats what you linked to.

Not many people will be installing or switching stoves this far into the season. and anyone wanting the stove for next winter can wait for a better deal. If this isn't a great price (I'm not familiar with the model) then I'd let it sit there for a week or so before answering the ad. The seller is more likely to be flexible if he doesn't get any serious bites right away.

I think this is too high. I don't like buying used because there is a reason the guy is getting rid of it. Is it because of a flaw or something else? If there is one minor issue with that stove, you will quickly be over the cost of a new stove. I'm not sure how the Stove and Cat warranties (10 years on the cat) transfer over to the second owner...

Also, keep in mind that there is now a 10% tax rebate on new stove purchases, that can take a new princess down to around $2000, but it may need to be professionally installed.

I purchased by Princess, that was 10 years old, but lightly used over that period (I'm almost certain it wasn't used for the last 5 years before I got it) for $400. By time I purchased the stove, all the gaskets, new cat, side shields, paint, gas for pick-up I figure I've got about $1,000 into the stove... It adds up quickly.

Without a warranty, I wouldn't pay more than $1000 for it... with the warranty I'd got to $1500 or slightly higher. Unfortunately these stoves seldomly come up on CL. It took be 6 months of checking 2 times a day and a 5 hour (one way) drive to get mine.
