Feeling the Heat

I find that using my pellet stove I keep it much warmer than I did on electric (for a lot less money to boot!). Where do you keep it?

72 to 74 and love it
When I was oil stricken it was 66 to 68

65 at night and 70 during the daytime. The room the stove is in runs a few degrees warmer, but I go by the temperature on the thermostat in the next room.
Any hotter than 72 and I find it uncomfortable. I guess I have a narrow operating range.

72-74ºF while we are home and active. I let it drop while we are away(66ºF) and sleeping(68º). Stove room stays about 6ºF cooler.

The main floor is at 68-69 cause I'm heating with oil, but the down stairs where the stove is at 73-74. I don't get it I can't seem to get the heat upstairs, I live in a bungalow so I'm not sure that is the issue or not.

i like to keep downstairs no higher than 70, and upstairs 67, 68

70° WOULD be perfect for me but the boss like it HOT! Keep the boss happy and I'm happy. But I have been running on 1 and keeping it at 78°. Cooler than she likes it (can you believe this?) but she understand the trade off on pellet usage. Just over 1 bag a day and 78° 24/7. I am happier than a pig in mud.

Between 70-73 degrees and the rest of the house is in the 70 except my sons room is 68 the way he likes it he keeps his door closed and i keep opening it to let heat in there or it would be 60. When i was on the dreaded oil the house t stat was set at 66 and down to 62 at night The wife is happy now and even tells me to turn the stove down

My AV room is 72-74, the rest of the house is cooler for the web foot monsters.

My stove room hovers at about 95 ,its 20 x18. Its in and unfinished part of the basement. Rest of the basement is 85 and the floor above is about 76 ,floor above that(bedrooms) is about 70(too cold)

I think you need your pellet pig avatar revoked!

Pigs acquire large quantities, that doesn't mean they have to burn them in one big raging inferno and go over temp.

It is the stash that defines the true pig from the wannabes.

But that was a good attempt at getting a response from he who maintains the books for the Oinkers.

So really I am the opposite of a pig. I only keep a ton on hand and burn the $hit out of them.

Hey oh seasoned one, are you contemplating going the pellet route?

Not often do you venture onto the dark side of the hearth.

Usually main room is 74 , bedrooms are 64. The boss usually turns it down at night to 62 so I few days ago I said "You know it's really inexpensive heat, how about we leave it up at night and wake up to a toasty house in the morning?" She called me a "baby".

I keep my place much warmer not using oil. Stat reads 70-71 downstairs, but its in the farthest room from the stove. Never checked but my guess is its 75 in the general area the stove is in. 66-68 upstairs.

Let us just say you have not acquired the the level of panic that a true pig has when the on hand supply approaches the three ton mark.

It would be normal for a pig in that state to stage multiple midnight raids at OMV's stash despite all of the stash protection devices.

I'm already getting the shakes and I still have around 9 ton left in the bunker.

While we're active downstairs where the stove lives it hovers at 73-74. At night I let the stat control and it swings from 70-74. That keeps the sleeping zone just about perfect.

I just started this night practice. I can't believe my drop in pellet usage overnight. Probably 20-30% less overnight.

How True ! !

I am down to 3 bags in the garage and about 4 ton in the basement. In my mind, once the 3 bags in the garage are in the hopper, I am screwed ! :p
