Was just bragging to my wife how I "have this down now" burns been going great....a quick wipe down of the glass daily and how the glass has not been gunked up and has been clear for a couple months...

then this AM I woke up to caked on blackened glass...oh well, someday I will learn to keep my mouth shut...not happened in my 1st 50 years...maybe in my next 50

Been there, done that. Sorry to hear...

Now the question is, why was the glass caked black?

Did the stove burn down to nothiing or did you cut back too much on the air?

Was sleeping...so not sure...I always cut air down the same way every night after I load it up and get it roaring...

Not a big deal.
Nope, not at all, just found it ironic that I was bragging to my wife a few days earlier that the glass never gets coated black anymore

Don't worry about it as long as you have heat who cares wipe her off an go! My fireview has never gotten black glass although after a couple weeks it gets cloudy I clean it yesterday and wow so clear it's amazing I love it
