Yup its true,... these things just burn too dam hot!!!!,.... I cant turn my stove down enough without getting inconsistent feed. If i put the stove on 2 it'll get too hot a trip the disc,... if I put it on 1 then I run the risk of the fire going out (which has happened several times),.. I like Stove Chow better,... they last longer with a more consistent heat. So I paid 209 per ton,... the floor is open for bids. Between Newburgh & Poughkeepsie NY 1224120029.jpg

Have you played with the LBA or LFF?

Have you spoke with Mike? I remember a thread where the temp sensor on an EP was moved or had a washer placed under it,.tp prevent it from tripping?

Worth a shot?

yes played with low feed set on (1),... these somersets just burn hot and fast!,... maybe if I had a dif stove theyd be fine,... but thats not in the budget right now,.... gotta use the pellets that work best for my stove.

not sure if I wanna mess with the sensor,... the rutland temp gauge goes up near 600 degrees,.. a bit hot for comfort.,..the stove seems happy between 350 and 450 putting out plenty of heat without over heating things.

kind of pellets i could use here, none to be found in this area! can you ship to your northern friendly neighbor? ;)

I agree with oldmountvernon mix them with cheap pellets. They dont sell them where I live so I never tried them but would love to run them in my harman and see what all the rave is about

Run them in a Harman and you'll probably wonder what all the fuss is about. The stove will just idle and equalize the extra heat everyone sees because they feed fast.

I figured that. Thats why I love this stove I can run anything through it and it puts out almost the same amount of heat. Just the amount per hour goes up or down

Anyone selling Inferiors near you?

No I live in the middle of long island. there are a few mom and pop stores blowes and home desperate the home depot by me just had stove chow in and i bought 15 bags they burn pretty good but the pellets are small so it chews through a bag in 8-10 hours when i was using green supremes and they were lasting 12-14 hours. but the chows had less ash

I will take a ton off you. PM. Me. I am in Poughkeepsie.

Close the plate in the hopper all the way, then you can run the stove at higher numbers and will feed more steady. I do this when the pellets are smaller than normal. I know by experience that is difficult to control the burn at low numbers with smaller pellets, they just keep coming down to the burn pot. I had to increase the slot in the plate to even close more the opening and do not worry about bridging with small pellets never has happened to me.
The only problem, when the pellets are bigger your have to move the plate again and your settings need to be different. Englander stoves burn whatever with the right settings and this take long time and bunch of pellet brands to try.

Why not keep them and mix them with a lower grade pellet?

no plate in this old 25,...... but it looks like i have three ton sold,.. so I'll keep the last ton to mix with other, slower burning pellets.

But yea,.. Somersets are great pellets,.. they're just so small that its hard to control the feed in this less refined stove.

Have you tried a different mode? I took mine from D to C and it burns much hotter! Can you go the other way with it?
