I don't know how pine last that long.

My cast iron stove stores the heat well...after that time it is still 250 with decent coals, enough to start up without kindling...throw some wood on, all air wide open and whoooosh...off and running again.

Get an electric blanket with individual controls.

IKEA has a fabulous, feather comforter. It weighs a freaking ton and keeps us warm even when our pipes nearly froze (house was 56 downstairs where the therm is, it was probably 48-50 upstairs). Best part is, it's CHEAP. Goose down is $$$, but feather is not.
