Thermostat went blank

Twisting the wires wont help with this stove, the thermostat is required for operation. There is no way around it, all stove setting are contained within in.

and I read on another forum that they had the same problem and he removed the stat from the wall bracket and then replaced it and it worked for him its worth a try

The Mt. Vermin has a Stat All of its own.. Not compatible with Any other system. The stat is part of the computer that tells it to do what and when.

typically you should twist red and white together not red and green

Ok twisted red and white, plugged the stove back in and nothing.

I was trying to get the manual for that stove online but No luck to help. Did not know that the T stat is part of the board. I am sure static it creating havoc on the stove.

Untwist the wires and put everything back together as normal, ensuring the wires are color coded correctly. If that does not work, I like the suggestion of cutting the ends of the wires and stripping new ends. Maybe you were having connectivity issues.

Untwisted put it all back together nothing. Dead.

Thanks for all the help. Tried clipping wires and stripping them again. Still Dead.

I tried cleaning the hopper out this morning and the stove. I unplugged it while I was doing this which took a good 30 min, plugged it back in and still nothing. I have called a friend who has a meter and he is going to come by this afternoon to check the tstat wiring just make sure its not an issue with the wiring.
I checked the best I could the hopper lid switch and it seems fine. When he is here I might have him test it also.

And of course its Sunday and around these parts there are no stove shops open (I do understand they work hard and need their time off) so unless its the wiring it looks like I am down and out one more day assuming I can get my dealer out here tomorrow and assuming they have one in stock or let me take a display one.

I'm guessing he had it off when he was farting around with the tstat wires.

Yes I have tried that several times. No luck.

My friend just came and tested the tstat wiring and it is all fine so that is not the problem. So, my guess is I am getting a new tstat tomorrow. Of course that is is if the dealer actually has one. Oh what fun. I was really hoping to make it through a year with zero problems.

Update: The dealer came out today and it was the tstate. Well at least I am back up an running. Can't wait to get that bill

glad its working and hope he is easy on the bill. What is the humidity in your house? static electricity is a possible suspect that fried the T stat. If its low make sure you rub your feet on the carpet and zap a family member before touching it again. or add a humidifier.

Dead is Dead, with our stoves OMV as you know the tstat controls everything and its not working you are SOL.

Yes, its low typically in the winter 25 to 30%. And yes I think it was the static that caused this. But the static electricity seems a lot worse this year for some reason, never remember it being this bad. Yes, will have to do something like that or touch the baseboard heater or use a pencil to touch the tsat. And yes a humidifier would be good to add.

The stove is 5 or 6 years old and this the original one. I do not think its under warranty but I will double check the manual. Hopefully, not $400 as on Amazon (the link in this thread) it was $239 so hopefully the dealer mark up is not that much. Was going to order it off Amazon but then thought if it was not the tstat I would have to return it, and still call the dealer out. Also this way I know its all updated and he checked over everything to make sure it was not the control board. Which I am counting my lucky stars that it was not as those are real expensive. Plus calling the dealer is keeping my money local and keeping the dealer in business, which is all good.

All good its running and I just have to chalk it up to the cost of home ownership, if its not the stove it's something else.

You know I am not sure, the wife was here when he came as I was at work and I never asked her. I have not seen it so I assume he did take it. Good point never thought of that, will have to call tomorrow and see if he will give it back to me. Do not see why he would want it, most likely took it just to be nice.

I agree I try to always keep the old parts even from my car. One it helps me believe that they actually replaced it and two maybe you can fix it for cheaper then a new one. worse case you throw it out. Unless its a big heavy item then they can just keep it
