Actually I'm the one who got drilled

$3.81 gallon 100 gallons on the way, I take the minimum so I can just leave check on porch.

I run through about 200 gal per year for hot water and furnace core temp...

I'm gonna need some soon myself. 3.52 here

Yup. Recieved 97 gallons myself last week at $3.82. I feel a little bit better knowing that I get one delivery for every 2 sometimes 3 deliveries that my neighbors get.

Pool guy...Actually, your glass is half full! Even if oil was "only" 2.99/gallon, you still would only be ahead of the game by $82 for this delivery compared to the $3.81/gallon that you paid. Now, I recognize the value of $82 and I am willing to stipulate that it is far from "chump-change", but when you calculate your overall savings between oil vs. pellets, your $82 will be almost insignificant. And with these frigid cold Connecticut temps......you are able to achieve cozy as opposed to "getting by"....Ahhhh Go wood pellets!

But it's not,, dam closer to 4 bones per gallon then the proposed what if 2.99,

But hey ct pellet, I appreciate the pep talk ,and the proverbial cup of cheer..

No use bitching (though I'm not done) , oil is a variable fix cost, gotta buy it.

Even with the electricity rates this high, it sounds like installing an electric water heater would save quite a lot of money.
Even better, a pellet boiler. My oil burner used to heat my hot water but now the pellet boiler circulates its water through the oil burner water jacket, heating the water system without the oil burner running. $3.81 x 100 gallons x 2 times per year would buy a lot of pellets. But, I'm not sure how the pellet cost would compare to electrically heated hot water.

I am locked in at $3.20/Gal and went through 235 gallons from, Dec 11' to Dec 12'.
I wish I could sell some at that price so I do not get dropped from the oil consortium I belong to.

Bill

My oil delivery people wanted me to go on balanced billing nice guys that they are..They predicted my oil bill to be 3006 bucks for the year.200 and a lot of change per month .I installed a Cumberland 3800 in October of last year and have used approx 45 gallons so far this heating season! At 3.87 per gallon It would seem to me that my stove will pay for itslf and then some the first year of use !

Yeah, looking at getting 100 gallons very soon too. Local pricing is around 3.70. One company will do 3.59 if I take 150 gallons :(

Third year without buying oil. Just turn it on every morning for about fifteen minutes to take the chill off. Will have to buy a tankful sometime during the summer for another three year supply. Hot water is electric.

Same set up here and ironically I just had one of the oil companies in today to replace my oil tank. The irony of it all... I don't need oil for heat, but I still had to shell out $$ to replace the oil tank. And to add insult to injury, I'm going to need a delivery in about a month... I asked if the oil company doing the install job would give me some type of break on the oil.... no - $3.99/gal and I could take off 7 cents if I pay within a week.

Dam mike!

You really dropped the soap, ouch!

Tell me about it. At least I'm sitting in front of a fine looking pellet stove enjoying some Hamer heat...

Never burned oil, but used a lot of electrons. Looks like my heating costs will be about 1/4 over last year and much warmer. Kinda surprised WEMCO never stopped by to see where all the kwh's went.

Sigh, oil just jumped another 10 cents this morning around here to 3.799. Had to jump on the 3.58/gal for 150 gallons before I am paying 4 freaking bucks for the 100 gallon minimum.

I got 100 gallons yesterday @$3.77/gal. My last 100 gallon delivery lasted me 8 months for hot water. I don't think an electric HWH would beat that at 16 cents per Kwatt.

Last summer HHO in my area was $2.89 gal.
