Looked at an Enviro Max today. Large capacity for heat, but I would l have to change out my install as my pipes are 3 inch. Worth it?

Can't talk to the Max but I have an Enviro and love it. No real issues, I had one minor issue and it was replaced under the warranty no questions asked. IMO, they have the best warranty in the business. The dealer told me he likes dealing with Enviros because they stand by there product and always honor the warranty no questions asked.

Spend a we bit more for the Maxx M and you'll gain burn any pellet on the planet without issue. Well worth the extra money. The Maxx isn't real pellet picky, But does tend to need cleaning every couple days at best. The Maxx M will go weeks on end no touchy at all.

Is it worth the hassle? Heck yeah. You won't need another heat source to assist the stove. She'll heat the whole house and still have some left to play with(good for forgetting to fill the hopper-recover from power outages an such!). If your gonna upgrade might as well go all the way. I will for warn you they like to eat lots of pellets. Mine(Omega is a Maxx M) does anyway. But you will be roastin and doing a delta T(dancin in your skivies)!

Your stove and old pipes can be sold on CL to recoup some cash.

I don't know which one it was I looked at. He quoted a sale price of 2800. But the install might brake the piggy bank. Also the wife is on my case to put a propane unit in the fireplace so she can have it in the livingroom and have some heat should the power go out. Our living room is on the second level, split. She doesn't want anything we have to lug fuel up the stairs to get to it. Never mind we only lost our power once that was over a day. (ice storm of '98)
I think that with the larger stove, we won't need any other heat. Brain storming for now, but will need to fine turn this situation up a little so I get off any oil heat. The enviro looks like a real heating unit and is rated for 3100 sq ft. more than I have. (2200)

$2800 sounds like a good price, But its probably the Maxx not the Maxx M. Maxx is 70K BTU's where the Maxx M is 60K.

Does the NPS40 come close to the full heating chore? The Maxx M will finish the chore. If not you could use the optional duct kit to help get heat upstairs. You could just get a small genny to run the pellet stove in case of power loss?

If the Maxx M is too pricey. Check out the Drolet Eco 65 or Enerzone Euromax, Look to be nice big stoves and have duct option too. Not as pricey as Enviro...... You could also look at the Harman P61/P68, But they are real pricey and no duct options.

I will 2nd what Jay said. Go either Maxx-M (strrer in the pot to keep it Clean) and duct it..

Or the Drolet Eco-65 (its a unclassy model of the Enerzone Euromax) and duct it also. Its a bottom feeder and the pot is strikingly similar to the Hormones.

60,000-70,000 BTU unite will definitely get the entire job done. Especially when you direct Two 4" Ducts upstairs to your location of choice :)

Just took a pic of mine. I have over 30 bags through it no touch or open the door. Only filling the hopper and pulling the scraper rods on the heat exchanger. The cleaner the pellet the longer the run. Notice you can still see the fire and it spends all night just chuggin on low. That usually messes up a stove and the glass. IMG_0025.JPG

Enviro doesn't come right out and say it, but the Maxx, Maxx-M and M-55's can all be installed on 3" venting. Enviro make a 3" starter adaptor to put on the stoves, the only real issue is buildup of ash in the pipe. I've got 3 months on a M-55 in my showroom and swept it the other day, the buildup was less than an empress for the same time frame.

The Omega has the 3" Starter adapter. I haven't had any issues with the 3" venting. Here is the part number 50-1663 JIC.

I thought the early Maxx models just came with 3" venting and I thought I used to see a 4" exhaust retrofit kit? Maybe i'm mistaken, either way if I had a choice I would go with 4" for the exhaust.
Early Maxx did have 3" venting. The reason they had the 4" inch kit is the early maxx didn't breath. They also released a newer controller that increased the combustion blower voltage that cured the burning issue.

My Omega has the latest version controller which also increased blower voltage. Never did do the 4" vent and have no problems. I think Enviro just kept the 4" to be sure it was not going to be an issue. I think the OP was trying to reuse his piping. Getting the adapter would do that. I would also keep the 4" and if for any reason a problem acured or you have to replace the venting. Then go with the 4". Just trying to save the OP a lil cash!
