That's EXPENSIVE!

I love a ridiculous Craigslist ad as much as the next guy, but I don't see why this is such a big deal. If 1/8 - 1/3 cord is the unit of choice, they're not catering to the home heating market. My local grocery store chain sells little bundles of kiln-dried junk (one good-sized split of oak or ash plus three undersized splits of something like basswood) for what works out to about $850/cord, and they don't even deliver. These CL ads look like a great deal in comparison. Since delivery is pretty much a fixed cost regardless of the size of the load, it makes sense that small loads would cost more per unit than big ones.

All cherry too. Free market.

The better way to set up the ad would be with "reasonable" prices for the wood and a set delivery fee for whatever amount of wood gets delivered.

By the way, you aren't paying that much for just dry cherry, but for the fact that this stuff produces a smell just like grandpa's pipe. It is the nostalgia factor. I never knew my grandfathers and the one that died from smoking smoked cigarettes. So, no nostalgia factor for me.

You have to pay a little extra to buy wood that smells like grandpa. The last time I burned wood that smelled like grandpa it smelled like his fart, not his pipe.

I wonder if the first ad was a typo or if he realized smelling grandpa's pipe wasn't worth $540/Cord.

$80 for 1/3 of a cord is actually a pretty good deal for seasoned wood this time of year in this area...
