As promised here are pics of my ash pans. I was hoping to have the samples back for the sheet metal shop but not till Monday. These are my prototypes that I made a few weeks back.

The new ones will have better handle and be black. All the edges will be rolled.

thats a pretty cool idea

I bought fire retardant fiber look wood and put it on the floor

I am not seeing what was done to the burn pot...what did you do?

I thought about doing the same thing with aluminum foil just molding it in there . Your idea is much better. Ill take a couple

This pic was taken befor I did the burn pot mod. When I talked about doing it and posted some questions on here I was slammed by people saying " if englander wanted it that way they would of done it. Also I'm sure Englanders r/d department knows more than I do. " So I didn't put anything up yet.

Was gonna take a pole and see how many people were interested in ash pans. I'm fig they should prob cost between 20-30$ . I'm also thinking of making a nice burn pot scraper / ash pan removal tool to also include .
Any takers

Obviously Englander knows there stuff but they don't know more than everyone so maybe your idea is revolutionary. Of course "safety first" but don't let negative folks take the wind out of your sails.

As for the ash pans do they just go on the sides of the burn pot and you just pull them out and dump? kinda like a custom fit dustpan idea?

Oh I'm not . With a tool /die maker background of 15 years doing r/d and prototyping I can't tell u how many times engineers would send me prints and I'd take one look telling them it won't work.

I understand englander has to make a product that compiles with EPA ,patents, building /customer cost.

But with that said I think a consumer can always improve a product after they are using it.

I def think on the under side of the top of the stove it needs a wave type heat exchanger. More surface area equals less heat out the exhaust . I was also thinking of making a damper system to put on the exhaust.

I use a little 'pan' on a stick, sized to fit into the bottom of the burn pot. Works like a scoop. (second tool over, next to the modified spatula 'scraper') From your picture, those pans have 3 sides? How come no front side?

IM a taker let me know thx Jim. I have paypal also.

much easier to add a ball valve or something similar to the intake air.

Not only easier, but SAFER!!!

Putting a damper in a Positive pressure system is asking for trouble. You will put pressure on the system further back (stove) and cause air to come out of places it shouldn't.

That's why Pellet stoves that have a "Damper" have it on the intake side of things.

Please do NOT add anything to the exhaust. Anyone who has any common sense will tell you not to

A wood stove has a Negative pressure pipe, and can have a damper inline. A pellet stove. No.

Well maybe you can PM me the pic.

My whitfield has a damper control on the exhaust seems to work really good

It's a plate (BEFORE!) the exhaust.

You are talking about putting something in your venting?? No?

A Magnum Countryside 3500 and Whits are the same way. But that plate is BEFORE the exhaust, so it's still Negative

CO kills. Post a thread asking about Dampers in the Exhaust/Vent side of things. Prepare to feel un-intelligent (Vent side is Positive. Put something blocking the positive, and it Will come out somewhere)

I'll see what I can do

Post a Pic of it.

Lots of threads here on burn pot Mods. If it works better, than so be it. All of my stoves have a mod of some sort. Some are simple. So more in depth.

My furnace has more mods than you can shake a stick at. I share all of these Mods, with those that have the same unit. The last 2 Fahrenheit threads have this info.

Put it out there. We bust chops... Yes. But it's best to be safe. If its safe and smart, then do it.

I am all for your burn pot mod. Your damper mod? No. Again. It's dangerous.

I ment it would be befor the exhaust

...... I was also thinking of making a damper system to put on the exhaust.

When someone reads this, we just want to make sure you understand the safety hazards.

Not saying it cant be done? But when most read exhaust and damper? They think Key Dampers. Like on a wood stove.

Again. We all want to make sure that everyone here has good burning habits and doesn't become a statistic....

If I wasn't intrigued by your threads. I wouldn't comment.....
