Just got home from work and traffic was absolutely horrendous. Got home and the stove was still going from this morning's load of locust and maple. Filled it right back and it is now toasty in here. We are expecting over a foot between tonight and tomorrow and winds will be high. Im almost certain we will loose power since we loose it when a mosquito farts let a lone 30 to 60 MPH winds. Between the two stoves and the Geny, we are ready as we can be. Fridge full of food, juice, soda and beer, not too mention 4 different types of Moonshine to choose from, we are set. Be safe everyone.

The storm has subsided here for a bit, but the predictions are not too good. High winds already. Snow is heavy. I think it is the calm before the real storm tonight. If temperatures drop, we may get light powder easy enough to push aside despite prevalent conditions.
Absolutely Dennis, they are all watching tv and or reading. Funny how they all seem to hang out in the stove room. I shoveled some when i got home but its no use. Its coming down heavier than i can clean.

how you making out Steve. Hope you got in ok. My friend in Ossining tells me that the roads are really bad.
Just finished doing another round of shoveling with my wife and two kids. we all came back in and went directly to the stove room. Nothing like coming in and taking off the wet clothes and hanging out in your short next to the stove. Thank God for wood stoves.

It was really bad down there last night, my buddy spun out right on Waller ave. He tells me he couldnt even get to his wood pile the snow was so deep

I'd say we got about a foot and a half of snow in total. Winds were fierce and the same for the traffic.
We are mostly shoveled out now and the big graders have come and scraped off the road. Amazed at how prepared they were this time.

Made it home ok. Roads were snow covered most of the way. No other tracks on the Saw Mill PKWY though. Visibility was only about 100'. Drive in this morning was no problem. Most roads were only wet in the morning. House was nice and warm when I got home. The Black Locust burns like coal.

People are still stuck on the roads out on Long Island! We got off relatively easy in the Lower Hudson Valley. I can't imagine dealing with 30"+ of snow.

Wow Steve, I'm impressed you made it home. I also work in NYC until midnight and have a similar 72 mile commute up to CT. Originally I was going to attempt it, but then opted out of going in at all once the projected totals climbed. Glad I wussed out. Ended up getting 38" and cars are stuck everywhere. Plan B with fire, cookies, cat and movies worked much better.

We didn't get anywhere near as much snow in the Hudson Valley as you guys did. This was really just a routine bigger snowfall for us. Not even close to crippling. I drove in this morning on mostly wet roads and easily cruised at 70 mph on the NYS Thruway.
My commute is only 42 miles. I don't think I could do another 30 miles in any weather. What are doing so late in town? I'm a stage hand.
