Ran out of snow several weeks ago, so I've been dropping trees and bunching them out in the woods. After this storm, I finally had enough snow to keep the wood clean while I skidded it down to the wood yard. Saw a couple of deer on the way up in - they had been feeding on the tops of the trees I had dropped.

8 logs here under the snow. Not very big stuff, as I'm thinning out the junk...

and ready to be pushed back out of the way. I pulled out 5 loads today, and have another 5 or so to go after tomorrow.

Good time to get the woods work done.

Yes, and the sun even came out a bit. I was thinking of your post from earlier in the week regarding nice days in the woods - today was cold and blustery out in the open, but with the shelter of the woods and the sunshine it seemed all that much nicer. Tomorrow looks as nice, and then a spell of sleet and slop.

Well, I hope you miss the slop. We are forecast some rain. Today would have been another nice day in the woods but had other things going on. Next week doesn't look too great but will be out cutting as soon as possible.

Got in another partial day out in the woods. Didn't even take the saw out, as there was still more skidding to be done...

Another pile of logs hiding under the snow (pointy-hooved critters have been wandering around here, too).

End of the day. Only a couple of loads left up in the woods. The chill set in pretty quick once the sun dipped out of sight. I might pile these logs higher using the loader forks, but not today. 90% Red Maple, a couple of ash, and few beech that were already down.

You are making good use of "prime time" wood gett'n :)

Serious chains on there,
Rare to se them other than in Alaska ;)

nice lump of wood there, Flamestead! I love cutting and hauling in the snow. Mainly because it's peaceful and quiet out there (when the saw ain't running), and there is NO BUGS TO DEAL WITH. I love the winter woods!

Quite the day's work! In 2 or 3 years time the warmth of that wood will make the memory of that cold and snow just a vague memory.;)

Very nice work Flamestead!
