After looking around a few days, I finally found a Fiskars splitting axe at Sears, and although I bought it at Sears, in the store, they only had two in stock, and were kept hidden in storage. I had to find the right person, show him the item number from the Sears web site before it could be located. This pic is the bottom of the handle. Shouldn't there be a plug or something to close it off? Optimized-fiskars.jpg

OK, thanks. I got the 36". Seems by from where I like to hold it, maybe I should have got the 28".

That is the shower device. When you lift it over your head you get a nice shower after it has rained.

As others have said....exactly what it should look like and you will be glad you got the X27 when you rip into those bigger rounds, the leverage is welcomed.

After you get used to it, you'll start notice you are using the full length. I started out thinking it was too long, and now I use every last inch.

In this configuration, it doubles as a megaphone. If you are only concerned with cutting wood, I don't think you will have any problems.

I had some fun with my new axe today. I scrounged a 16' long, 10" oak log from down by the river. Best part, the log is seasoned. It must have laying there a long time. No bark, and 13% inside with a Harbor Freight moisture meter. My old maul bounced, Fiskars sliced right through.

Nah, I'm good with the long one, just stand back a bit farther. More finesse.
