I did the math.. since I started burning in June or so... I've used a bit over 8 cords. I'd say that about half of that was hemlock, or other crappy, punky stuff.

I'm two pallets away from getting into the better stuff. I've got 70 pallets full. I think just 3 are hemlock slabs from a beam sawing operation.

I've used less than 25 gallons of oil. I've got 5 zones in the house, and in reality I'm heating close to the square footage of two houses. Everything set at 70!

I think I'll be pretty close to my 10 cord estimate for year one. It's warming fast. Last week was one fire a day from my schedule of two.

Nozzle looked a little chewed up on top. I'll have to share pics with Mark at AHONA to see what he thinks of the cast iron replacement ones.

Awful happy with the purchase. It'll only get better as I get into my better seasoned wood. 15 is gonna be good, with some 3 year old oak!

Marks a great guy.. Our place we sold I had an EKO 60 with Mark's 1000 gallon storage set up, plus an additional 612 gallon STSS storage tank in my basement. Those are my yellow tanks in Mark's ad before they came to me... He was a great guy to deal with,,knows his math on what works and what doesn't. Sounds like your set up is working out fine...

I gotta say.. it works perfectly.

His plan had me at the middle speed on my 3 speed pump that feeds the injection loop. I saw that the delta T from supply to return was pretty small, even when many loads were calling. I decided to try the slower speed. Seems to work as good as before... with Delta T closer to 25.

Independence is awesome.. especially since I could not out cut the growth on my own land.

WOW JP it sounds like you have your system dialled in, I've used more than 10 cords since Oct. but I was on the mode , just get it running . We burn mostly soft wood but after reading this forum all winter I will be adding more thermostatic controlled zone valves and insulation and get ahead on wood ,hopefully get close to your numbers. Plus side the house is warmer and the electric bill went from $900 to $175.

Cast iron replacements? Is he selling them?

I know he had some, never heard if they were good, bad or what. I'm a bit surprised at how much the corners are chewed after 8 cord. But I don't have a frame of reference for how chewed needs replaced.

I guess there is a lot of erosion.. being that almost all of the air is going around those corners on the edge of the firebrick nozzle.

I plan to take pics and send them to mark.. see what he says.

Don't I know it. I'm not worried at all. I have no frame of reference for wear.. so I don't know if it needs a new one or will go for years. I'll share a pic when I clean it out.
