I don't know how old it is but I bought it used over 30yrs ago. I stopped using it about 2yrs ago it needed a fuel pickup and recoil for the start, it still has good compression and as I recall it had way more power than my current saws" 455 rancher and a 61". I don't even know if parts a still available of a saw this old.

I don't think the little blue pill is gonna fix the 65 he's talking about there BB. ==c Oh yea, HAPPY BIRTHDAY too.

That's the only part that still works. Go figure.

Price them out. Cheap used parts available on sites like chainsawr.com and ebay as well. If you'll use it, I say fix it. Otherwise you could always unload it for some extra $$.

What's wrong with the recoil? If it just needs pawls, rope, or a spring then that's a pretty cheap DIY repair. Could have that old saw kickin' for real cheap.

I don't know where in BC you are, but if you don't want it, I'll take it off your hands and give it a good home :)

And just so this post isn't me trying to land another saw to feed my CAD, I've had good luck getting parts for older saws on chainsawr.com and ebay.ca as well (as Mastermind posted above)

Thanks everyone for the help, MM the recoil doesn't pull the rope all the way in and I think I have to split the case to replace the fuel pickup.
Thanks Thistle , looks like I have a L65. That is an interesting website. The chains page, I never realized there were that many types as I always use the standard. Have anyone tried the different types and found them better or worse for firewood?

I would try to give it one or two more turns on the recoil spring and as far as the pickup goes..... I would hope they didn't make it so you had to split the case for that. That would be a bummer indeed.

Is is it worth fixing?

I want you to know I put a lot of thought into this question. I am stuck in Boston all week and have had time to thoroughly research the topic. After exhaustive analysis of all available data I have determined it is in fact not worth repairing.

I know this is disappointing to hear and I feel for you. I don't want you to be reminded of such a poor quality and disappointing saw every time you see it just sitting on a shelf. So feel free to send it to me, free of charge I will dispose of the saw for you.
