Today I picked up a used ms310 in a case for $150. I knew the previous owner and it has not seen much use at all. It wears a 20" bar and a new chain. He has a husky 359 and the stihl was basically a backup. The 359 doesnt get used either, but I couldnt get him down near as much on that one (go figure). The 310 will reside in the back of the truck instead of the little 180 or next to it.... I havent decided if I need a 2 saw plan on wheels in addition to the 3 in the garage.

It's official. I have too many saws. My backups have backups.

Daggumit, Bocefus...where's the pics? you know we love pics, here!! ;)

I've heard tell here that it never happened:rolleyes:

Nice haul Bocefus, that baby slides right into your lineup perfect!

Dang nice score!

I have been thinking of picking up a saw to leave in the truck also so I've been watching cl for something to pop up. Talking with my friend this weekend about it he said that it would be ripped off in no time so he said to get a Stihl and paint it some other color. Has anyone ever done this?

Nice, good , great.... well a score of some kind.
Hard to tell without a picture. :)

I will hopefully get a pic tonight if I have time. I have to get them all ready for this weekends cutting in addition to getting the ice melt loaded on the plow truck, the plow on, get the atv and splitter on the trailer, remove the parachute they call a ramp on the back of the trailer, and get a little sleep before the ice hits. A guy has to make his money before he can be wasting time on posting saw porn ;lol

Makes sense to me, but the price on the 310 doesn't........great deal for you.

I finally got around to taking pics of the 310. It idled fine but would die when throttled. I noticed that the fuel lines had been recently replaced so I figured carb settings were jacked up to make it run before the line swap. I was right. A quick adjustment back to factory specs, and she runs like a new one! It came with an ES bar, but I put an E series on it I had laying around so it will fit in the bar cover that comes with the case. I was surprized that this thing has an adjustable oiler. I was also surprised at how much better the spring antivibe is on my 361 compared to the rubber on this thing. For $150, I think I did good. 310.jpg

I agree, and the 310, like a few other middle children in the Stihl family, gets no respect. :) Could easily double your money with that thing if you were so inclined.... (Then that $300 gets you a clean MS260, smaller, would fit in the truck better, but if you really got a deal on the 026/260 you could polish it up and sell it, might make enough to score a..........)

My advice? Stop listening to me. Before it's too late. :p

Your advice is always good. Hell, I picked up a parts JD314 last night for $175 with a blown motor. I needed the rear end since mine was jacked up from some shadetree drunk a$$ who decided to strip out the tranny case where the hydro fill tube goes in. The body alone is worth what I have in it! I need to quit buying crap and start selling some <>

Paint usually scratches or gets soft from the gasoline/oils. Get a generic, aftermarket case or better yet a case from one of the "use once, throw it away saws" for it. Leave it in the case in the truck...

You guys and your deals. I could get a ragged out 290 for $300 around here.

You guys all worrying about saw theft. Nothing to it. Leave the saws in the truck, keys in the ignition, camper window cracked open 2 inches, & the Pit bull in the cab. If they start reaching into or looking too close at the rear of the truck, the dog pushes the window open the rest of the way, sticks his head out & growls. Haven't lost a saw or tool yet, occasionally find a yellow puddle near the truck, but no other issues. A C

Brings back memories of Dad using "Tracy", more affectionately know as "the moose", our old 120lb female black lab to guard his "69" Superbee with all our guns and gear in it when I was growing up.

I prefer the "Protected by Glock" stickers on the sides of my truck. The dont eat much, and dont $hit in my yard either! ;)

With that said, run a chain thru the handle and lock it down to one of the tiedown points in your bed. Works for me but then again, I dont live in Compton either.
