Teach me Obiwan....I have two chains, I sharpen them on the saw with my Oregon sharpener..Why should I have 10 chains? Still learning and curious what I am missing.

Stihl chains are much harder steel,, that's all I buy. Hit a little grit under the bark with the oregon chain and your sharpening,,, with the stihl chain your "stihl"cutting! No doubt! I buy a chain every 2 years if that cutting 5-10 cords. I sharpen buy hand , using dial calipers once in a while to even things,, taking off .015- .030 each time I sharpen, not a .125 (1/8th inch) or more with a power grinder...

No idea why ;)

A group of cutters who need the same size chain could save a few $s.

Lifetime supply ;? :)

I have 8 new ones on the shelf that I got for $14 each. No plans to buy any for a long time, If ever.

I have prolly 10-12 chains. I just wait till they are dull to take out the grinder and do them all at once.
