New to me MS 441 magnum non-mtronic. I bought because I have a huge willow tree in my back yard that is a nuisance and may fall and kill somebody some day....At least that's how I justify it!;-) I paid 600 for it and it comes with a 25" bar and 9 chains that have never been sharpened. Dude said too big of a pain to sharpen and just bought new. I am pretty sure I got a good deal and here are the pix, you be the judge. 441-2.jpeg441-4.jpeg441-5.jpeg 441-1.jpeg

Looks great. How does it run?

Good deal with out the chains.

Nine never sharpened chains brings it to you suck level!

That is sorta what I think but I don't have them yet, they could be completely trashed! I have no idea but how much is a new chain for this?

If they've never been sharpened, I doubt they are totaled. 25" RSC loops are typically $35-$40 bucks. x9 = you done good son, real good. Chains alone were worth half what you paid.

Hopefully i will have that sucker tomorrow or Friday....who woulda thought that chainsaws could be so addicting!

I'm sure those chains will sharpen up fine........... like MM said, with the cost of chains you got a fabulous deal on that saw!

New chains are $20 online and $42 at the dealer. I just went through the ordeal for my 660 with a 25" bar.

That thing will slice through a willow like a red hit knife through soft butter. First thing I did when we moved in was cut down a willow. My dad's 16" Craftsman cut it up like it was nothing and it was light as could be. Took it all to the dump even though I knew we would eventually be burning wood to heat the house.

And, yes you did get a good deal.

I will burn a lot of the junk but I will also burn some for the shoulder season. I don't have room to help all of it. I have enough room for about 8+ cord but don't want to have all that crap as I like to keep hardwood. And since I have an very good supply of that I am pickey. I do gotta get it down because I have some beautiful trees along the house we grew from saplings from the arborist society. I couldn't tell you for the life of me what they are cause the wife didn't think it was important to keep the information they sent with the name of them.....

That's an awesome deal with that many chains. Congrats.

Now get cuttin and take some more pics :)

Well all I can say is "Hang on".
After running the 290, the 441 is going to want to eat 3 times as fast.
Just be ready to "smile " when you pull the trigger in a big log ;)

Doudble D, how do you like the add-on furnace in your avatar? I have been asking my buddy to buy one since he remodeled his house and went up instead of out. His stove can't quite keep up and he is a bit less than 3k sqft. What are the burn times like?

Its a Pellet Furnace (Fahrenheit Endurance 50F). Holds almost 3 bags of pellets (112 lbs) and I heat about 3,000 sq ft with it. My upstairs is 2,180 and the area the furnace is in, in the basement, is about 800 sq. I don't have the cold air return hooked up, because I can get the basement between 80°-90° with the wood eater (30-NC). So it sucks the Hot air out and distributes it throughout the house.

I see..I thought it was the englander add-on.

If you want to look at add on furnaces, look at the ones from Yukon-Eagle. I have one of its wood burning furnaces with natural gas backup, but I know they make one, if not two, wood furnace add-ons. The main website is not working right now, but here is a link that is.

This is my first year using the Yukon-Eagle Polar furnace and we love it. Our wallets love it too. Only used the natural gas a single day when we went to New York for the weekend. Bought the biggest furnace they have because we plan on doing an addition in the near future. Right now, this furnace heats this house rather easily and we have 2,160 upstairs and another 2,160 downstairs.

Hey Dex, what kind of reduction in pellet use do you get running the 30-NC in combo with the pellet furnace?

Imagine, a Pellet Pig burning cordwood to save fuel! Isn't that against the club by-laws or something? ;lol :p

My 1st 3 yrs I just burned pellets and used 4-4.5 ton. Last year I only used just over 2 ton (mild). This year (2nd season with 30-NC) I will be somewhere around 3 ton (little under). The wood has really put a dent in the consumption of pellets. It has more of an effect when I use the Pellet furnace downstairs, than when using the Quad upstairs. I use each about 50% of the year. Temps below 30°, I use the Furnace. Temps above 30° and I use the Quadrafire. Although I always keep a fire, having a warm basement keeps the Wife happy :)
