I wood tune in but I don't think I would make it through 8 hours of a burning fireplace scene.
 
IMO, the bark up / bark down issue hinges on the peculiarities of the bark in question. Black Locust, with it's deeply grooved, corky, sponge-like outer covering is definitely bark down.
 
It's good to hear that we're not the only ones who have Woodpile OCD. Bark up or down only matters if your wood is uncovered, which risks arrest or embarrasing laughter. Watching a fireplace on tv is for people who don't have one.
 
Hard to admit being Norwegian right now.
