Spent a fair amount of time in the woods over the last three days. Yesterday, my wife helped me haul some stuff that was not to heavy to the tractor and cart from within the woods and today I gathered up a good bit that she will help me with again. It was good not messing with the heavy stuff and it was good to get it off the ground before it rots. I got into three types of wood in this section I worked, the first I took was a maple, followed by a hickory. I finally got myself a cant hook and it was nice. Don't know why I waited so long. The third was a red oak and it is a very big top. The picture does not do it justice. It is about 26 inches I would guess but alot of it

Looks like some good stuff, Tim. I'd be ranking some of that hickory in a separate pile to use when cooking in the keyhole pit this coming summer!!

The Maple looks a bit spotty but you can cull out the good when you split. The Oak and Hick look good.
I got a peavey a couple years ago and said the same thing...'This thing is great!' :)

You needed help from your wife ,and a cant hook for those twigs? You must be old and weak.

Hey. Nice work TimJ. Good to do some work with the old lady when you can. Just don't call her that. And don't tell her I called her that.;em

All the wood is solid and I took what I thought was a maple round and split it.........it was solid hickory. With the bark gone I couldn't tell until I split it.
Gas, I showed the lovely honey your post and she got frying pan mad !!!
OLA, if you would only get out of the house you could do the same

;lol I'M SORRY MRS. TIMJ! JUST KIDDING. I KID, I TELLS YA!

My wife and my kids used to help with working up the wood. I cut some off our lot, but most all of of it came as tree length in 5 cord deliveries. We hired a splitter for the weekend after I had it all cut into rounds. Then we stacked it durning another weekend. No one complained about being warm all winter. Did that for 15 years, then went to Dino when we both had to work full time, me all the overtime I could get, plus reserves. Kids in sports. Family all grown. Now Dino cost too much so we are pellet heads. Not a darn thing wrong with you all working together. I would never get away with calling the wife the old lady!

My wife and kids help when it is time to move the wood in under the porch each year. That is when there is a lot to move all at one time. About 8-9 cord. I would never get away with calling my wife the old lady either! ;lol

That is awesome! Sounds like you're set for a while; Send the fairy over to my place. ==c

how much did you have to put under your pillow ?
I don't spend a penny for any wood I have,it's all about hard work and perseverence,if I had to put money under my pillow for the stash I;ex have,it would be a pillow the size of which no one makes.
