I haven't tried them, But I haven't heard anything good about em either. If they we good? It would be posted all over this place. ;)

They must have released this back in 2008 when we had a pellet and stove crunch(shortage).

Are they softwoods or a blend?

The bag appears to be dated 12-11 and "pp" under the date. I guess the blend depends on which of their 3 mills produced the pellets.

They're ok. Real dark fluffy ash. I paid a lot for the bag. Doubt I'd buy more unless the price was closer to what I've paid for chows, sets or gts. Decent heat though. I cleaned the stove prior to burning them so I'll get a better idea of the ash.

I picked up a bag of big heats yesterday. Very light color, smells like pine, same size as the Somersets. Cleaned stove and hopper. Heat output was the same as the Somersets, very low ash in stove. The burn pot plugged up with clinkers after a 1/4 bag.

I was told by my local stove dealer whom sells Italian made pellet stoves that this should be the only pellet my stove should consume;lol. Glass did stay very clean. I ran the stove in auto mode - medium auger speed and today lowering down the auger to #2 setting hopefully will eliminate the clinkers.

Sorry, but the Somersets are better, don't have to clean burn pot until the stove chews up 3 bags;)

I ended up removing the last 15 lb. from my hopper. On auger setting #2 , the pellets left a greasy mud like substance in the firepot and plugged it up! On #4 setting the pellets turned to small charcoal bits and plugged up the burn pot. !!! I put in a bag of Greene Golds, problem solved. I will leave this one for the Harman guys ==c

Does your stove dealer sell these? Has he actually used them?
