I am looking at the same "March Madness" deal too (3 ton pricing). It's my first year so I don't know if I should wait or bite...
Sprucies for 259/ton (the pallets are 1.2 tons however, so $932) and Barefoot for 259/ton/pallet in particular...

Looked at the web site and I don't see anything about prepay.
Sounds like a cash and carry deal to me from what I read there.
109 miles RT too far for me but good deals to be had for folks out that way.

I just bought 3 tons Barefoot and a ton of Spruce Points which should be enough for next season. Hey, I love the Bay State but pellets ain't cheap in this neck of the woods. Those are good prices (for me at least). I'm looking forward to trying the Spruce Points as I've been buring hardwoods almost exclusively.

I bought 5 tons of Empire brand pellets Tuesday afternoon from my local dealer. $249 a ton including sales tax. A bit pricey, but he stores them all year and I can pick them up as I need them. I'm willing to pay a bit more for the added convenience of not having to store 5 tons in my already overcrowded garage and basement. Plus they're made locally so I'm supporting a local manufacturer and dealer with my annual purchase.

Pretty sure you are not supposed to pay sales tax in New York on wood pellets.

If you did indeed get charged sales tax you may want to say something to the dealer.

that may also be out of date with all the new laws that have passed recently.... don't know either way, just saying

I didn't so just assumed it was part of the price. That would explain why it isn't listed on the bill of sale.

Got quoted 269/ton for hamers if buying 3+ tons. Or 265/ton for barefoot. Never burnt hamers but I really liked the barefoots.

Yep, burnt 4 bags this year to try this brand. Was pretty much sold. Wanna know how? My wife told me the stove was too hot for her to stand infront of.

No sign of the spring deals near me yet. Pre-buys don't go over well and I prefer cash and carry.

As I read the deal posted on the pelletsdirect website its a "pre-early buy" ie sale prior to there spring pricing special.
There is no money required up front. Cash on delivery.
I think they are trying to get out ahead of other pellet houses with some early advertising, maybe clearing out some old stock.
The way I see it, springs not that far around the corner.

Nothing wrong with old stock(as you probably know) if kept dry. Some of the better deals I have come across have been old stock sell off's. Might get them below the mills early buy specials sometimes. Good deal when they happen.
Surprised to see old stock selling off this season. With the colder weather, I'd think most would have used a bit more this season?
