Has anyone tried these as I am thinking about getting them next year? I only tried a couple of bags so I feel I do not have enough info. They were not as hot as Okies but left no ash in the pot, I mean none. I tried them when I was really new to pellet stove fuel so can anyone else tell me what their experience with them is?

Never heard of AWF "Ultra". Can you post a pic or 2 of the bag and the specs label? Where did you get them?

Cannot post a pix of bag as my wife uses the bag for garbage but my pellet spreadsheet says > 0.5% ash and fines. Softwood that I burned on 5 at 350 degrees on a Taylor surface thermometer half way up door next to handle. AWF also has a hardwood version, AWF Premium. I bought them at Bravo in Long Island, New York. 6.40 a bag for the Ultra, 5.98 for the Premium. I was testing different brands at that time. The Premiums >1% ash and they were pretty dirty.

Those are just plain AWF....nothing "ultra" about them. That being said, when I burned them about 4 yrs ago, I liked them a lot.

I am burning American Wood Fiber Ultra Softwoods this year and these pellets leave the most black soot on the glass of any pellet I have ever burned.

Not to mention the soot on the siding outside!

They do burn hot but next year I think I'm going back to Hamers.

The Hardwoods have changed there bag, the Softwoods are new this year and carry the same look as the Hardwoods did in years past...

The Softwoods are the Ultras. Hardwoods now come in a blue and orange packaged bag
