1st check on venting after 1.5ton burnt

Does this look right after 1.5 tons has been burned since. Dec 2012 to just a few days ago. This is from me pulling the stove away from the wall. Its a 25PDV its been on 4-6-1 for a while and always seem to burn ok. Just thought I'd ask, most of you have cleaned your vents many times before and this will be my first.

Not too bad, but a lot more than I see in mine after the same amount of pellets. Is that a vertical or horizontal pipe we're looking through? What is the hose clamp for?

I agree...?? What is the clamp for? And are we looking from the vent end (to stove) or front the stove end (to end of vent)?

It going from light to dark? Looks to be from Stove end? But looks and colors are tricky with vent, ash, and flash.

Color up close (grey) looks good, but the build up for a ton and a half, looks a little heavy. I have burned about1.5 in my Quad and 1.5 in my furnace. Neither vent have that type of build up.

What pellets are you burning??

The photo was taken from the stove side in the house, I pulled the stove away from the wall to paint behind it.
The hose clamp is for connecting the stove pipe to vent pipe. The Englander came with that clamp.
I'm burning Mc Feeters pellets.
The pipe is in the horizontal position through the wall thimble....
In person the ash looks black, and is fluffy to the touch its not baked on or anything.

Please make sure to seal that vent with High temp RTV. The stove adapter was not meant to be sealed with a hose clamp. The clamps provided are for the OAK.

Thanks I will use the high heat sealant when I put it back together.
My mistake on the clamp , it came with the Selkirk PL venting. The clamp is crimped to the inner S/S liner.

yep, both my selkirk dt set ups came with a hose clamp for the stove adapter.

settle down boys. theres more than one way to skin a cat.

As pointed out, the ash looks OK. Maybe a bit on the heavier side but that is also why we advise to clean your venting after 1-2 tons.

Also, I think Mcfeaters are burning hot but dirty this year so that may account for more buildup than other pellets.
